About Us

Wine Republic is the brainchild of restauranteur Adam Pledger and was created in response to the 2020 Lockdown and Covid crisis.

Adam and his team have over 25 years in experience in the wine trade and have won many awards for their wine offerings in both retail and the hospitality sector.

“When March 2020 closed down all but essential businesses we soon discovered that many of our customers, friends and family wanted to support the restaurant by buying wines from our cellars. Not only did this help support the business through the lockdown and importantly give vinous joy to many, but it also very rapidly became a business in its own right.

Over the last 15 years, our restaurant Park House has developed an internationally recognised wine collection and continues to win many awards and accolades. This, coupled with the loyalty we had built over the years, led to a huge demand for our knowledge and of course, wines.  From this Wine Republic was born with the motto of ‘Wine for Everyone’.  A true Republic.

For many years we had sold wines to our customers to drink at home through our successful wine clubs, winemaker dinners and monthly takehome offers, so in many ways, this was just an expansion of what we had always done.

Retail has always been a passion of mine and takes me back to my first business as a wine merchant, so to this end we are currently in the process of building a physical shop in the old cellars of our restaurant building that will sit proudly alongside our restaurant and make the venue a complete wine and food lovers haven.   It will offer a full retail experience as well as a wine bar where you can browse, enjoy a glass or two and maybe a plate of cheese.   Importantly it will encourage human contact in the post covid world where we will all be desperate for a good chat and a glass of wine!”
