  • 2021 Nero d’Avola ‘Vitese’, Colomba BiancaRed Wine

2021 Nero d’Avola ‘Vitese’, Colomba Bianca

    £1295

A brilliant, deep red Nero d’Avola with rich, juicy flavours of ripe plum and black cherries interlaced with subtle violet notes. Concentrated on the palate, the deep fruit flavours are supported by soft, ripe tannins and a spicy character on the finish.

Nero d’Avola has long been the most important grape on the island of Sicily, thriving in the heat of the Mediterranean sunshine. Here in these sun-drenched vineyards, the highest standards are attained through the use of innovative technology and the careful process of mapping the terroir according to the weather patterns, harvesting time, soils and vine age. The vineyards are made up of distinct soil and climate conditions and range from sea-level up to 700 metres above sea level, each terroir imparting subtle complexity into the wine. The grapes undergo a sensory analysis and are hand-picked at optimum maturity.

  • 2017 Organic Nero d’Avola `Il Passo Verde`, Vigneti ZabùRed Wine

    2017 Organic Nero d’Avola `Il Passo Verde`, Vigneti Zabù

    £1595

This Nero d’Avola is deep ruby red in colour with a bouquet of red and dark fruits, hints of spice and a balsamic, eucalyptus quality. This is a full-bodied wine with well-balanced acidity and lingering spicy black fruit on the finish.

The vineyards for Vigneti Zabù were planted in 2005 on the hills around Lake Arancio in Sambuca di Sicilia. The crystal clear water creates an ideal microclimate for vine growing and protects the vines from the heat of Sicilian summers. The organic vines are low-yielding.

  • 2018 Dark Prince Nero d’Avola, Fox GordonRed Wine

2018 Dark Prince Nero d’Avola, Fox Gordon

    £2095

Opulent yet silky, this delicious wine reveals stunning aromas of deep fruits which are enhanced by notes of Sarsaparilla and lifted floral notes of red roses. Fine supple tannins and a hint of oak lead to a rich finish.

The Fox Gordon estate vineyards are located in the Adelaide Hills, overlooking McLaren Vale. Nestled in a natural amphitheatre, the vines are planted at an elevation of 380 metres above sea level, where cooling breezes from the ocean less than 18 kilometres away influences the microclimate. The vines are approximately 14 years old and are planted at the top of a hill at an altitude of 480 metres above sea level. It is a rocky site, which suits this very vigorous variety as the site has very little topsoil, slowing down the vigour.

  • 2013 Nero d’Avola, Chalmers Wine Republic Heros Red Wine

    2013 Nero d’Avola, Chalmers

    £2350

The Chalmers family’s commitment to innovation and excellence has made them a pivotal force in the Australian wine scene for over 20 years. This is illustrated by the fact that first Nero d’Avola vine was imported by Chalmers in 2001 and that one little vine has evolved into more than 200,000 vines planted all over Australia.

The grape has really found a synergy with the red soils of Heathcote, particularly in the top block where the Chalmers Nero d’Avola is grown. The combination of the lightness and charry/graphite notes of that site with the cherry/raspberry, tar and hard herb characters of Nero d’Avola is a great match.  Chalmers deliberately go for a crunchy style which gives an enchanting, vibrant and juicy wine.
