The Long River Shiraz is made by Dowie Doole Chief Winemaker Chris Thomas and is sourced from selected vineyards grown alongside Australia’s longest river, the River Murray in South Australia. Pure 100% Shiraz this red wine exhibits aromas of plum, clove and pepper alongside notes of vanilla and mocha from the use of oak. The fruit from the nose flows onto the palate bursting with luscious flavours of plum and vanilla giving the wine a long lingering finish.

2018 The Love Grass Shiraz, d’Arenberg
£1595Add to BasketThe Love Grass 2020 is a Shiraz straight from the d’Arenberg playbook. As a young wine when first opened, it may appear closed, dark and brooding. Tar, earth and black liquorice. Air and time both help to massage out the abundant sweet fruits, blackberry and plum with an undertone of fennel and spice. In a similar way, the palate starts quite muscular and tight but over time relaxes into a more generous juicy wine. As the juicy fruit evolves the initially rustic tannins start to settle into it like sinking into a plush armchair. The strong earth characters are a nod to the organic and biodynamic principles adopted in the vineyard. The character of the fruit is gently supported, rather than dominated, by savoury old oak barrels. All in all, this is a structural wine that over-delivers at the price point and will certainly benefit from decanting whilst rewarding those with the patience to cellar it well for 5 to 10 years
Lovegrass is a weed that grows in the vineyards and its sticky flowers affectionately attach themselves to vineyard workers’ socks. This Shiraz will linger with you in the same way that the flowers do!

The 2019 Cricket Pitch Red is a multi-regional blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz sourced from premium regions including Beechworth, McLaren Vale and Coonawarra.
In the glass it has a beautiful deep colour with youthful tints, the aromas open with juicy berry fruits and subtle spices. The palate is juicy and fruit driven with fine long tannins. This blend is a tribute to Henry Evans, who planted the first vineyard of seven acres at Keyneton in 1853. The blend highlights the historical introduction of southern French and Spanish varieties to South Australia in those early pioneering days and reflects the history, religion and culture of the Barossa.The fruit for this blend is sourced from selected growers in Eden Valley and Barossa Valley, with whom Stephen and Prue have been dealing for decades.

2019 Croft Chardonnay, Henschke

Fifth-generation winemaker Stephen Henschke and his wife Prue purchased the Lenswood property in the Adelaide Hills in 1981. At 550 metres above sea level, the Lenswood vineyard offers not only magnificent views over the traditional vine country but also higher rainfall and humidity, cooler temperatures to retain high natural acidity, yet still enough sunshine to fully ripen the grapes. The chardonnay vineyard, which consists of seven clones, has taken its name from Frederick Croft, an orchardist who took up a neighbouring property in 1938.

2020 M3 Chardonnay, Shaw & Smith – Magnum
£7900Add to BasketA Magnum of the iconic M3 Chardonnay from a high quality, low yielding vintage. This wine opens with intense aromas of white flowers, nectarine and citrus. Aiming for elegance, restraint and the ability to age, the acidity is bright and there is generosity of flavour.
Fruit was predominantly sourced from the Shaw + Smith vineyard at Lenswood, which was planted in 1999 and purchased by Martin and Michael in 2012. Undulating with east and west-facing aspects at 455 – 500 metres above sea level, the soils are brown loams over clay with broken shale on the ridges. Low yields were achieved by aggressive pruning and pre-harvest bunch thinning. All fruit was hand-picked to avoid any fruit damage.

2016 Mount Edelstone Shiraz, Henschke
£13950Add to BasketThe Mount Edelstone vineyard, situated in the Eden Valley, was planted in 1912 by Ronald Angas, a descendant of George Fife Angas, who founded South Australia. Unusual for its time, it was planted solely to shiraz. The ancient 500-million-year-old soils on the vineyard are deep red-brown clay-loam to clay, resulting in low yields from the nearly 100-year-old dry-grown ungrafted Centenarian vines. First bottled as a single-vineyard wine in 1952, it became recognised as one of Australia’s greatest Shiraz wines.
2016 is the 64th release of Mount Edelstone. In the glass, it is deep crimson in colour with violet hues. Fragrant, spicy aromas of black pepper, sage, bay leaf and star anise are interwoven with vibrant plum, blackberry and blueberry, and gentle notes of tarragon and cedar. The palate is complex and textured with rich and concentrated flavours of mulberry, blackberry and plum, layered with sage, black pepper and star anise. The finish is beautifully balanced, with long, velvety tannins and excellent depth.

2005 & 2006 Hill of Grace Shiraz Museum Release Presentation Box, Henschke
£1,29500Add to BasketFrom a tiny four-hectare site in South Australia’s Eden Valley, overlooked by the spire of the historic Gnadenberg church, the Henschke family’s single-vineyard, low-yielding ancestor vine shiraz has quietly carved out a name alongside the great single vineyard wines of the world.
The 2005 and 2006 Henschke Hill of Grace, both rated by Stephen and Prue Henschke as exceptional vintages, have been kept aside in the family cellars in perfect cellaring conditions for collectors of back-vintage wines. They tell the story of a unique single vineyard, two distinct seasons and a family of winemakers. Both are drinking beautifully now but will age for a further 25 years.
This release is to compensate for their decision not to release a 2011 Hill of Grace wine owing to unsatisfactory vintage conditions. Johann explains: “I think you just do get some of those vintages every now and again, and rather than have nothing, we prefer to offer something to people who have been supporting us for a long time – restaurants and collectors who are really keen on the Hill of Grace story…So that’s why we went back into our cellar stock and found some extra bottles to release. It’s a really lovely box, which is specially designed for these two wines.”
The wines have guaranteed authenticity and provenance and will be available in a collector’s box with a booklet of stories, history, tasting notes, and technical information. The foreword has been written by James Halliday, in which he lifted the score of the 2006 Hill of Grace from 97 to 98 points after another look at the wines this year. 2005 remained at 96 points.
