Launched in 1962, The Signature is a rich, complex and generous 100% Barossa Cabernet & Shiraz blend that is uniquely Australian – a contract between the world’s wine lovers and Yalumba’s winemakers, signed with the name of a true believer. The Signature is a celebration of wine and people – more than 50 vintages, 50 names and 50 stories – encapsulated in one historic Cabernet & Shiraz.
This is the 55th iteration of The Signature – a superb 2013 vintage that honours Andrew Murphy. It has outstanding colour in the glass displaying a saturated inky black core with a very deep dark purple black hue. Aromas of perfectly ripened blackcurrant mingle with hints of liquorice and blackberries over a backdrop of subtle tobacco, earthy vanillin cedar and spice. The palate is awash with blackcurrant fruit that sits alongside inky blackberry and traces of liquorice tightly wrapped up in a sturdy firmly built structure that bodes well for long term cellaring. Nuances of earthy vanillin cedar, faint tobacco and spice are also present on the back palate. Firm yet refined tannins. Excellent depth of fruit with a long ripe blackcurrant, inky blackberry, liquorice, earthy vanillin cedar and spice aftertaste.
