  2010 Barbaresco Martinenga, Marchesi di Grésy

  Barbaresco Martinenga takes its name from Marchesi di Grésy’s Martinenga vineyard situated in the commune of Barbaresco. This single-vineyard (of 11.93ha) has the shape of an amphitheatre, with Asili to the west and Rabaja to the north-east. These south-southwest facing vineyards have a favourable microclimate, which allows the production of high-quality grapes even in potentially difficult vintages.

  ‘Rose petals, violets and dark red cherries emerge from the 2010 Barbaresco Martinenga. In 2010 the Martinenga is quite supple, open and generous, with a kick of acidity and brightness on the finish, both signatures of the year.   1999 Barbaresco Tenuta Roncaglie, Poderi Colla – Magnum

  Since 1880 the Roncaglie cru has been recognised as one of the best and most important vineyards for Barbaresco production. Poderi Colla’s Tenuta Roncaglia estate has eight hectares of Nebbiolo under vine, at an altitude of 240-280 metres and benefiting from a southern exposure. This enables the vines to produce clean, ripe fruit that’s hand-picked before being transported to Poderi Colla’s winery in Cascine Drago for vinification and maturation. Tenuta Roncaglia’s wines are some of the finest examples of Barbaresco around.

  This is a maturing magnum of Colla’s magnificent Tenuta Roncaglie Barbaresco.   Reaching its peak this wine has a blockbuster nose and powerful complex palate with immense structure and grip.   This is Nebbiolo at its finest – in a magnum!
