  Bright straw colour. Aromas of struck match accentuate an expressive nose of almond, caramilized sugar, nougat, lychee and sweet fresh hay. The palate is rich yet dry and structured, with a viscous texture characteristic of the variety.  It still has really fresh acidity after 7 years and is just a delcious example of evolving bottle aged pinot gris.

  We love this tasting note from Robert Parker: ‘A remarkable nose – vegetarians beware! – suggests smoked pork, sauteed veal sweetbreads, and truffle-studded foie gras, and the palate is just as sinfully rich as the nose implies, encompassing as well a honeyed intensity of quince and Mirabelle preserves; white Burgundy-like toasted brioche; and hints of brown spices. This is a meal unto itself, and for all of its amplitude reveals a sense of buoyancy.’

  This wine is a real treat – one of Trimbach’s finest – 30 years old!  It is made from botrytised (noble rot) Pinot Gris grapes that are hand-selected from the best vineyards. It is made in only exceptional years and has natural residual sugar (over 30g) which harmonises perfectly with natural acidity.

  In the glass, this wine exhibits aromas of dried apricot, burnt caramel and honey with banana and a touch of smoke. Beautiful subdued sweetness with underlying acidity. Very intense and concentrated in the mouth. The palate includes orange peel with waves and waves of intense, tautly precise flavour framed by good acidity. Very impressive finesse and length.
