In the glass it is full of generous, ripe plum and red fruit with black pepper and spice on the nose. This leads to a softly textured, full-bodied palate. Has a very alluring touch of oak creaminess running through the palate. A little dollop of Viognier adds aromatics to the nose.

This organic Rosé is made from 100% Tempranillo and is an approachable but serious rosé, displaying great purity of flavour in a light, elegant style. Château Maris Le Zulu is an organic red wine made from a selection of Grenache and Syrah grapes and without added sulphites. The grape combination creates a full-bodied, yet soft and seductive, red wine. Lively, fruity, a little salty and juicy, this wine has taken the best of the south of France, rich fruitiness combined with the taste and balanced acidity provided by the terroir.
The Capezzana estate, 24 kilometres north-west of Florence, is owned by the Contini Bonacossi family. This wine is deep red in colour. On the nose, there are intense aromas of ripe dark fruit, especially blackberries and cherries, with spicy notes of cocoa, lavender and liquorice. On the palate, it is youthful and full-bodied, with a great concentration of ripe, rounded fruit. It is a very elegant, fresh and complex Primitivo.
The grapes for this wine come from vineyards in the heart of the Primitivo growing region, located in the low hills east of Taranto in Puglia. The region is an old sea bed, full of fossils of clams, oysters and urchins. The altitude is approximately 20 metres above sea level and annual rainfall is 35 centimetres. The climate is classically Mediterranean as Puglia is a peninsula between the Adriatic and the Ionian seas. The Primitivo vines are quite old; most are the original plantings after phylloxera and range from 70 to 100 years old. As with most vineyards planted at that time they are small bush vines called ‘alberello’ which are non-irrigated and low yielding. The average Primitivo vineyard is quite small, less than half a hectare and the best sites have a crumbly, dark reddish-brown soil that resembles instant coffee.

The estate is situated on the Vidigueira fault, a 30-mile long east-west facing escarpment that rises to 420 metres. The fault significantly influences the climate, trapping the cool, humid Atlantic winds, so despite its southern location, it is one of the most temperate sub-regions in the Alentejo. These cooling and humid influences descend at night, creating diurnal temperature differences which extend the ripening period; with the warm days concentrating the flavours in the grapes, while balancing natural acidity is retained during the cool nights. The soils are of granitic and schistous origin. The water level in the soil is rich and superficial, nourishing the vines during the warm summers.

The Domaine Gardiés vineyards nestle in the foothills of Corbières, where the clay- limestone of the scrubland gives this a part of the Domaine’s soil its characteristic finesse. The climate is Mediterranean, the hot, arid summers encouraging the vines to struggle and send their roots deep into the soil in search of nutrients, resulting in complex wines. The low-yielding vines produce 30 hl/ha. The region is characterised by the eight different types of wind blow across the wine growing area and, one day out of three, the mighty Tramontane, a dominating northerly wind, sweeps through the region. These drying winds help keep vineyards in a healthy condition, reducing the need for pest control or other human intervention. Domaine Gardiés is certified organic, the vines are hand-harvested and biodiversity in the vineyard is encouraged.
