The wine is deep ruby in colour. On the nose, it has bright cherry fruit aromas combined with hints of chocolate and balsamic vinegar. On the palate, the fruit is supported by fine-grain tannins. The finish is savoury with a hint of minerality.

Fruit for the Chianti Mediceo is sourced by Alberto Antonini from the wider Chianti area, with a large portion of the blend coming from the hills around Florence. Alberto selects and then blends the wine before bottling it in Cerreto Guidi. Made primarily from Sangiovese, this wine displays all the freshness, vibrancy and red fruit characters typical of Chianti. It is an excellent value for money introduction to this historical Tuscan denomination.
The grapes were hand harvested and selected. Once arrived at the winery, the grapes were destemmed and gently crushed before being fermented in concrete tanks for two weeks using only native yeast. After fermentation and pressing in a gentle pneumatic press to extract the juice, some of the wine was aged in 54HL large oak casks, while the rest was aged in concrete tanks.
