Crafted from hand-selected fruit sourced from ancient vines up to 110 years old in the famed Ebenezer sub-district of the Barossa Valley, the 2018 Eye of Rã Shiraz represents Ben Glaetzer’s ultimate vision for Barossa Shiraz –  powerful, refined, and timeless.

In the glass, the wine presents an inky, opaque purple hue with striking red highlights. The nose is immediately expressive and commanding, with intense aromas of dark berry fruit interwoven with subtle herbal nuances that will continue to evolve beautifully with age.
On the palate, layers of rich blackberries are elegantly balanced with vibrant red fruit, mocha, liquorice, and hints of fresh-cut cedar. Polished tannins frame the dense fruit core, creating a seamless, luxurious texture that culminates in a long, resonant finish.  While alluring in its youth, the Eye of Rã 2018 will reward patient cellaring with enhanced complexity and even greater depth over the next 15+ years.

Behind the name: In Egyptian mythology, the Eye of Ra was the powerful feminine counterpart to the sun god Ra. The Eye’s forceful protective deeds were celebrated alongside its nurturing life-giving gifts to Egypt.  The symbol depicts the sun surrounded by protective cobras and wings.
