Domaine Vincent Pinard2023 Sancerre Flores, Domaine Vincent Pinard
Loire Valley, FranceVintage: 2023
Domaine Vincent Pinard is one of the most esteemed names in Sancerre, located in the village of Bué, a commune renowned for its exceptional Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. The Pinard family has been rooted in the region for over 20 generations, with brothers Clément and Florent Pinard now at the helm, continuing the domaine’s legacy of low-intervention, terroir-driven winemaking.
The 2023 Sancerre ‘Flores’ from Domaine Vincent Pinard is a masterfully crafted Sauvignon Blanc, vibrant, mineral-laced, and effortlessly elegant.
In the glass, it opens with a lifted bouquet of citrus blossom, white peach, lime zest, and crushed herbs, layered with subtle notes of flint and wet stone. The palate is pure and finely chiselled, revealing flavours of grapefruit, green apple, and lemongrass, carried by a racy line of acidity and a precise, chalky texture. The finish is long, clean, and delicately saline, leaving an impression of finesse and clarity.
The Flores cuvée is sourced from younger vines planted on limestone-rich soils across several prized parcels around Bué. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in stainless steel to preserve purity, it reflects the house’s commitment to elegance, balance, and precision. While it is the most accessible wine in the Pinard lineup, Flores offers extraordinary depth and complexity, echoing the same meticulous viticulture and minimalist approach that defines the domaine’s grander cuvées.

Description
Domaine Vincent Pinard is located in the village of Bué, in the heart of Sancerre. Widely known as Sancerre’s best producer, the Pinard family owns some of the region’s best vineyard sites over just 15 hectares of vines, including prized holdings in the famous Clos du Chêne Marchand site. Florent and Clément, the 15th generation of the family, run the estate today. Their father Vincent must be incredibly proud as they craft some of the most exciting wines in the appellation.
In addition to their exceptional plots, the quality is due to a combination of low yields, hand-harvesting and modern winemaking techniques. They are currently in conversion to organic, but have practised biodynamically in the vineyard for many years. The brothers have been managing their vineyard sites in line with soaring temperatures in recent vintages while maintaining elegance and structure where others have struggled. Clément and Florent note the long-established nurture and balance of the biodiversity in their vineyards, which is now producing wines with lower alcohol levels, a strong acid backbone and an emergence of a discerning saline element to the wines.
Being highly sought after, there is but one downside: not enough of these fantastic wines to go around!
