The brand Zalto was created in Neunagelberg, Austria, in 2006 and has quickly become the glassware brand of choice by top sommeliers, wine critics, restaurants and discerning wine drinkers.
The Zalto family, originally from Venice, has a long tradition in the manufacturing of glass. Each Zalto glass is hand-blown, allowing them to achieve extremely fine and light glass, produced without adding lead oxide, which gives it greater resistance to clouding.
The design of the glasses is fascinating and are based on angles to enable the perfect flavour. The curves of the bowls are tilted at the angles of 24, 48 and 72, which are in accordance to the tilt angles of the Earth. The ancient Greeks and Romans utilized this triumvirate of angles with their produce stores, finding that produce stayed fresh for a longer time, and also showed improved taste.
