  This delicious 2018 Limited Release Roussanne is a fantastic homage to the noble Rhone Valley grape.   Full-bodied and bursting with citrus, melon, layered with enticing stone fruit aromas. This follows through to the palate with peaches, stone fruit and citrus flavours, complemented by a creamy mouth feel.  A full-bodied style with a lingering, zesty aftertaste.

  This beautifully styled Limited Release Viognier is showing citrus and orange peel aromas, layered with enticing peach, mango and delicate floral notes. A well-integrated, rich palate, with a creamy mouthfeel and a fresh, lingering finish.

  2023 Protea Chenin Blanc, Anthonij Rupert Wyne

  This Chenin Blanc has aromas of fresh apricot and nectarine that mingle with ripe quince notes. Juicy and bright, the palate offers up succulent nectarine, melon and vibrant lemon. Approachable, light and succulent, there is great harmony between the fruit and acidity. The appeal continues with satisfying length and gentle pear drop nuance on the finish.

  The Marras Los Tros Chenin Blanc is made by Martin Lamprecht from grapes sourced from Swartland, a melting pot for hot new talent and South Africa’s leading region for liberal winemaking and experimentation.

  This is a gorgeous drinkable pear and stone-fruited wine. The flavours are complemented by crisp freshness and a round mouthfeel with a refreshing finish.   In a recent South African tasting held in our shop, this was one of the wines of the night.

  2020 Chenin Blanc Swartland Reserve, Delaire Graff

  The Delaire Graff Chenin Blanc Swartland Reserve is made from 100% estate-grown Chenin Blanc grapes. Barrel fermented and matured in oak for 10 months this wine is a light golden wheat colour. Layered expressions of citrus and tropical fruit with subtle layers of honey and almonds in the background. Balanced and superbly structured, the flavours are complemented by a delicate minerality.

  2016 Chenin/Verdelho, Momento

  Marelise Niemann, winemaker and owner of Momento thinks that Chenin Blanc without Verdelho is like dancing without music.

  Verdelho adds the zing and zest to the blend, giving it that extra twist of freshness, energy and rhythm. The Chenin blanc grapes come from 40-year-old, dry land farmed bush vines in the Swartland, and a 36-year-old vineyard from Bot River, called ‘Langbene’ (Long legs) – named after the unique and extremely long trunks of the vines.  The Verdelho grapes come from Voor-Paardeberg, grown in decomposed granite and clay as well as a vineyard in Bot River grown in Bokkeveld shale. The decomposed granite soils produce a rich, generous and broader palate, while the shale and clay soil from Bot River produces an austere, focused, and texture driven wine. A combination of these two regions, together with the Verdelho that adds the freshness, combine to create a well-balanced wine, both rich and generous and elegant and well-poised, with a mineral focus and bright acidity.

   

  A nose of white peach, lemon rind and jasmine with green melon, green apple and a crystalline, wet stone minerality adding freshness and focus. Crunchy, puckering acidity supports a full-bodied, mouth-coating palate with brioche and tart lemon curd leading to a long, pithy finish.
