  • 2019 Vintage Brut, Chateau DereszlaChampagne & Sparkling Wine

    2019 Vintage Brut, Chateau Dereszla

    £2100

This Tokaji Vintage Brut is made in the traditional Champagne way and is an elegant white sparkling wine, created from a blend of typical Hungarian varieties – Furmint and Harslevelu.

The average age of vines growing on loess soils is 35 years. Harvested by hand, after sorting, passing through a press and primary vinification, the wine is subjected to secondary fermentation in bottles according to the traditional method of producing sparkling wines. The wine is on the lees for 14 months.

Situated in the heart of the Tokaj region, the origins of Chateau Dereszla can be traced back to the 18th century. The Estate owns 27 hectares spread across the designated “Grand Cru” area, and the large diversity of soils throughout these vineyard holdings is a crucial factor in the complexity of their wines. The historic cellars were fully renovated in 2003 and equipped with state-of-the-art winemaking technology.

  • NV Croser ‘Adelaide Hills’ Sparkling, Petaluma Wine Republic Heros Champagne & Sparkling Wine

NV Croser ‘Adelaide Hills’ Sparkling, Petaluma

    £2150

Petaluma Croser sparkling wine is a truly awesome wine and seriously good value, a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, made by the Champagne method.

The Chardonnay offers nectarine, cashews and biscuity characters — the backbone of the Croser Non-Vintage palate — with the Pinot Noir providing a fine mousse and strawberry fruit lift. Incredibly bubbly, with a long-lasting dry finish.

As is the tradition with non-vintage Champagne, this wine is a blend of the current vintage Croser with reserve wine from several older vintages — with each vintage adding distinctive qualities to the final blend. Croser Non Vintage stays true to the ‘aperitif’ style of Vintage Croser, showcasing a rich, full blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from selected sites in the cool climate Piccadilly Valley and other parts of the Adelaide Hills.

Hand-picked fruit is whole bunch pressed or crushed and pressed, with the free-run juice then fermented using Petaluma’s specially selected yeast strain in barrique and tank. The tiraged sparkling wine is left to age on yeast lees for 12 months and disgorged on demand — this ensures the wine retains optimum freshness and vitality.

  • ‘Dubl’ Falanghina Brut Spumante, Feudi di San GregorioChampagne & Sparkling Wine

‘Dubl’ Falanghina Brut Spumante, Feudi di San Gregorio

    £2400

This magnificent 100% Falanghina sparkling wine is a collaboration between Pierpaolo Sirch of Feudi di San Gregorio and top Champagne producer Anselme Selosse, who collaborated in 2004 to form a “double act” combining the excellence of Anselme’s Champagne winemaking skill with Pierpaolo’s deep understanding of the uniqueness of the Irpinia terroir. The culmination of this was the launch of the “Dubl” range.

A fresh and aromatic wine with notes of crisp golden delicious apple, peach and floral hints of camomile, complemented by rounder notes of apricot. Captivating, fragrant and dynamic on the palate with a lively, persistent mousse and a long, pleasing finish.  The wine spent 18 months ageing on its fine lees adding texture and complexity.

The beautiful Feudi di San Gregorio vineyards are spread out over lush and gentle hills in Sorbo Serpico, approximately an hour from Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The region lies in the heart of the Southern Apennines, which is characterised by a continuous succession of mountains, hills and plains interspersed with rivers. The estate covers 250 hectares of vineyard divided into approximately 800 lots which are almost entirely devoted to native Campania vines. The vineyards are situated between 350 and 700 metres above sea level and the soils are volcanic, with a good percentage of clay. The climate is not the type of climate typically associated with southern Italy as the winters can be harsh and often snowy and the summers are breezy rather than scorching hot. The intense diurnal temperature variation, the winds that sweep through the vineyards and the exposure to the warming sun results in a unique combination set to express the full potential of the grapes.

  • Albarino Brut NV, Mar de FradesChampagne & Sparkling Wine

Albarino Brut NV, Mar de Frades

    £2895

The first of its kind, a sparkling Albarino.  Mar de Frades lies in the heartland of Rias Baixas. This is the truest expression of the terroir, nestled upon the Galician coast where the seawater washes up on the shore finds its way through the breeze onto the skins of Albarino grapes giving its notorious salinity.

In the glass, this wine is lemon/golden in colour with a fine persistent bead of bubbles.  The nose is expressive and complex with white fruits, eucalyptus, almond and toast as well as that classic Albarino trait of seawater.  In the mouth, it is full, creamy and deliciously cool.  The Albarino salinity is again in full force with those white fruits and toasty notes leaving you wanting more.  Ideal as an aperitif or with starters like smoked salmon, scallops or oysters.

The label has a thermosensitive logo so that when the wine is chilled at the right serving temperature, a blue galleon(boat) appears and disappears when it is too warm for consumption.

NV ‘Chalklands’ Classic Cuvee, Simpsons Wine Estate

    £2995

The epitome of English elegance, this rich golden sparkling wine has enticing aromas of caramelised pear and floral millefeuille, combined with bright citrus flavours, linear precision and impressive length.

The first release of this elegant and luxurious English Sparkling Wine was awarded a Gold Medal and a “Best in Class” title at the 2019 Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships. The 2018 vintage is equally as exquisite and as just as popular – selling out as soon as we get it!

Simpsons Wine Estate is situated in the Elham Valley; an unspoilt seam in the North Downs of Kent where the contours of the land, the climate and the soil are excellent for viticulture. The intensely lime-rich chalk soil forms part of the same chalk ridge that stretches from southern England through Champagne and on to Burgundy. The grapes come from the Roman Road vineyard, named after the route the Romans first marched when invading England in AD 43.  They are grown on south-facing slopes, ensuring heat accumulation in the day and cold air drainage at night. The vineyard is less than eight miles from the coast, providing a crucial maritime influence insulating the fruit against intense temperature variations.

Franciacorta ’61 Saten’ Brut, Guido Berlucchi

    £3395

The Berlucchi family winery was founded in 1955 by Guido Berlucchi, Franco Ziliani and Giorgio Lanciani. Together, they transformed Franciacorta into one of Italy’s most prestigious regions for the production of sparkling wine. In 2022, Guido Berlucchi was awarded the prestigious ‘Winery of the Year’ by Gambero Rosso.

An elegant, smooth and refined sparkling wine, with a soft, creamy mousse enveloping complex notes of peach, apricot, tropical fruit and candied fruits, balanced by a lovely tangy freshness.

The grapes come from the best vineyards of the Franciacorte DOCG, in Lombardy, where the topography follows an amphitheatre shape formed by ancient glacial activity. The Morainic soils were formed during the last Ice Age; gravely, stony soils are well-drained and rich in minerals. The vineyards are greatly influenced by the cold winds coming from the Alps, however, the continental climate is mitigated by the effects of Lake d’Iseo.
