Western Cape, South AfricaVintage: 2020
This wine has a ruby colour. Primary fruits aromas on the nose and palate of violets, red fruit and black fruit. Red cherries, plum, black currant and blackberries. Medium-bodied palate with soft tannins and an elegant finish.
The vineyards used to make this wine are selected by Bryan MacRobert who grew up on a farm close to the town of Abbotsdale in the Swartland wine region. Low yielding dry land bush vines from the sandy decomposed granite soils are used to make this wine. The grapes are hand-harvested in the early hours of the morning and transported in 16 kg crates to the cellar for the winemaking process.

Description
Having previously worked as Eben Sadie’s assistant winemaker, Bryan has been crafting wines under his own label since 2007. He sources fruit from his family farm just outside Malmesbury, and parcels from local growers who all farm organically. The wines are produced to reflect the natural wonder of the region, its long, hot days and dry climate, the rocky and wild soil, the vintage and the culture and history of this spectacular region
The winemaking method is chosen to best express the Swartland terroir. The grapes are sorted before entering the tank. Some whole bunches are used to maintain freshness but without adding too many stems. Light extraction is used to extract only soft tannins and fruit. The pressed wine is then racked into big old barrels that soften and stabilize the wine without adding any wood flavour compounds to the wine.
