  • 2011 Pinot Gris Reserve, TrimbachWhite Wine

    2011 Pinot Gris Reserve, Trimbach

    £2150

  • 2007 Gewurztraminer Reserve, TrimbachWhite Wine

    2007 Gewurztraminer Reserve, Trimbach

    £2750

The Trimbach Reserve Gewurtztraminer is only made in the best years and only after a rigorous grape selection process.  This luscious, spicy 2007 vintage has taken on great complexity in the bottle.  Medium gold in colour with complex aroma development of beeswax and chamomile. On the palate, lush lemons jostle with mouth filling grapiness, tropical fruit and a hint of smoke.

The Reserve range is from parcel selections of old vines (around 35 years old) in calcareous clay soils around Ribeauvillé and the result is a more complex wine destined for a longer laying down. After harvesting, the grapes are brought directly to the winery where they are fermented in stainless steel and bottled early without malolactic fermentation.

2011 Pinot Gris Reserve Personnelle, Trimbach

    £3500

Maison Trimbach is, without question, one of the greatest names in wine-making in the French region of Alsace. Based in the town of Ribeauvillé, the Trimbach family has been involved in winemaking over 13 generations. The business was founded by Jean Trimbach in 1626 in Riquewihr and has since moved twice, in the 1840s to Hunawihr and most recently to Ribeauvillé after World War One.

The Trimbach family are masters of combining the natural richness of Pinot Gris with freshness and balance. There Pinot Gris Reserve Personnelle is only made from grapes harvested in the best vintages from the choicest vineyard plots. This results in rich, weighty, opulent wines which can take many years to develop their full potential.

This 2011 vintage is pale gold with a rich and fragrant nose; apricot, ripe pear and mango with a touch of botrytis. Full-bodied with very ripe fruits on the palate. Very charming, meaty – think truffled foie gras, rich with good acidity. Juicy pear and subtly smoky, bitter-sweet nut oils add allure to a long, interactively complex finish. Great with seafood and white meats. Perfectly pairs with fusion and Asian cuisines.

  • 2008 Pinot Gris Vendange Tardive, Trimbach Wine Republic Heros Dessert Wine, Port & Dessert Wine, White Wine

2008 Pinot Gris Vendange Tardive, Trimbach

    £4500

This wine is made from botrytised noble Pinot Gris, hand-selected and from the best vineyards. and is only made in only exceptional years.

We love this tasting note from Robert Parker: ‘A remarkable nose – vegetarians beware! – suggests smoked pork, sauteed veal sweetbreads, and truffle-studded foie gras, and the palate is just as sinfully rich as the nose implies, encompassing as well a honeyed intensity of quince and Mirabelle preserves; white Burgundy-like toasted brioche; and hints of brown spices. This is a meal unto itself, and for all of its amplitude reveals a sense of buoyancy.’
