This is the first new release from the House of Arras in ten Years! Crafted by Chief Sparkling Winemaker Ed Carr, from select parcels of Tasmanian fruit and careful use of oak, this is an amazing wine from a supremely talented winemaker.
This wine is a tribute to Chardonnay and sees a careful parcel selection of premium cool climate Chardonnay from vineyards in Piper’s River, the Derwent Valley, East Coast and Coal River Valleys. A significant portion spends time on oak before this wine undergoes secondary ferment in bottles and spends 30 months on lees giving remarkable balance and poise for a multi-vintage sparkling wine.
The palate expresses an elegant but powerful character, showcasing flavours of grapefruit pith, lemon curd, natural yoghurt and fresh sourdough. Balance is achieved at a low dosage which expresses the purity of Chardonnay with classic citrus and saline characters. Drinking fabulously now but will cellar well for the next 7-10 years.
For winemaker Ed Carr the philosophy for Arras sparkling wines is simple, to create world-class sparkling wines. Ed Carr is Australia’s most awarded sparkling winemaker with 34 years of experience in the Australian wine industry – 27 of these involved with sparkling wine production. He has long held the belief that Tasmania can, and should, produce exceptional sparkling wines equal to the world’s best. Over the past 20 years, Ed Carr has amassed more than 100 trophies in Australian wine shows including 21 consecutive “Best Sparkling White Wine of Show” trophies at capital city wine shows.
