  • 2020 Cachapoal Valley Chardonnay, Sanama ReservaWhite Wine

2020 Cachapoal Valley Chardonnay, Sanama Reserva

    £975

From 100% Chardonnay fermented in stainless steel, this is an excellent example of modern Chilean winemaking. Lemon, melon and floral notes are complemented by a refreshing acidity and mineral undertones.

The Sanama wines come from vineyards in Requinoa, located on the generous alluvial soils of the Cachapoal Andes Valley. They are protected from the moderating influence of the Pacific Ocean by the coastal mountains, but the influence of the Andes ensures warm days and cool nights. This provides ideal ripening conditions for the grapes, resulting in ripe tannins and attractive perfumes.

  • 2020 Chardonnay, Château Los BoldosWhite Wine

    2020 Chardonnay, Château Los Boldos

    £1095

This is a medium-bodied ripe honeydew melon, buttery Chardonnay with aromas of tropical fruit, apricots and pears. Lively, fresh acidity complements the wine’s persistent fruitiness and elegant finish.

Château Los Boldos has 170 hectares of vineyards which benefit from a Mediterranean climate. The clear, bright skies during the summer and the high diurnal temperature range are ideal for growing fruit that maintains fresh acidity whilst ripening to perfection. The nearby Cachapoal river also moderates temperatures, while stony alluvial soils in the vineyard ensure low yields. Los Boldos makes wine exclusively from their own vineyards, therefore controlling everything from grape to bottle.

  • 2019 ‘Maggio’ Chardonnay, Oak Ridge WineryWhite Wine

2019 ‘Maggio’ Chardonnay, Oak Ridge Winery

    £1375

This vibrant Chardonnay delivers fruity aromas of peach, mango, pineapple and melon. Beautifully balanced on the palate, with refreshing citrus flavours through to a long finish.

The estate covers 500 acres of vineyards throughout the Lodi American Viticultural Area, which are situated between the Sierra Nevada foothills and the San Francisco Bay. The Chardonnay grapes are grown in the Delta region, west of Lodi, which has a slightly cooler climate than central Lodi, both day and night. This gentle Mediterranean climate of warm days and coastal evening breezes is ideal for the cultivation of worldclass grapes. The mature vines are gnarled and sculpted by time, yielding small amounts of intensely flavoured fruit to create wines that are the ultimate expression of their terroir.

  • 2020 The Olive Grove Chardonnay, d’Arenberg Wine Republic Heros White Wine

2020 The Olive Grove Chardonnay, d’Arenberg

    £1395

This wonderfully drinkable Chardonnay is full of peach, pineapple and citrus aromas. Restraint is shown with oak handling which is all old French. This integrates into the background of the wine leaving the fruit character as the champion. The palate is sorbet fresh but at the same time has a wonderful creaminess. Sustained acidity, a whisper of grapefruit pith and a hint of nuttiness complete the finish on this overachieving Chardonnay. Approachable in youth, serve with a moderate chill but not too cold to fully appreciate the generosity of the flavours and mouthfeel.
