    NV ‘Collezione Cinquanta’, San Marzano

    £2350

A generous blend of equal parts Negroamaro & Primitivo, the powerhouse grapes of Puglia.  This beauty is a fleshy wine with dark berried fruit layered with chocolate and hints of spice. Smooth with great purity of fruit through to a long sustained finish. Quite delicious.

The vineyard is located in Salento, Puglia, where the vines are grown at an altitude of approximately 100 metres above sea level. The temperatures are relatively high over the summer, which encourages the berries to ripen evenly. The soil is predominantly clay with some rocks, which help drainage. The vines are old, gnarly bush vines that are over 50 years old and are planted at a density of 4,500 vines per hectare. The Primitivo is grown in the highly reputed area of Manduria, locally regarded as the best in Puglia. The harvest takes place in September when the grapes are slightly overripe.

  • 2019 Negroamaro ‘Vindoro’, San MarzanoRed Wine

    2019 Negroamaro ‘Vindoro’, San Marzano

    £2495

Deep in colour, this velvety and opulent wine shows aromas of black dried cherry, soft ripe fruits and a hint of spice. Full bodied and powerful, yet balanced, it is rich in fine tannins, with a pleasantly long lasting finish.

The grapes are grown at selected vineyards located between San Marzano and Francavilla Fontana. The climate is characterised by high temperatures all year round, with very little rainfall and a wide diurnal temperature range which positively influences the quality of the grapes. The soil is mainly terra rossa, with a fine texture and a generally calcareous underground with a few emerging rocks. The well-known reddish colour of this soil is due to the high presence of iron oxide. The manual harvest takes place during the last week of September.
