2022 Mongrana, Querciabella
£2395Add to BasketMongrana is the quintessential expression of the colours, sights and sounds of the Maremma region: fruity and intense, fresh and embracing, the wine takes its name – and its character – from that of the noble family of knights depicted by the Italian Renaissance poet Ludovico Ariosto in his epic masterpiece Orlando Furioso.
The charm of Mongrana does not take long to reveal. Well-defined aromas of ripe fruit, morello cherry, blackberry and blueberry jump out of the glass, anticipating a complex bouquet of kirsch, ivy, and pine needles, enriched by a touch of liquorice.
On the palate, it offers a juicy, fresh sip with soft tannins. The long finale is savoury, with a mineral note that persists in the mouth.

2021 Morellino di Scansano Riserva DOCG, Fattoria Le Pupille
£2995Add to BasketThe 2021 Morellino di Scansano Riserva DOCG is a striking expression of Fattoria Le Pupille’s heritage and the untamed beauty of Tuscany’s Maremma region. As the first wine ever produced by the estate, this Riserva continues to embody the soul of its origins, anchored in ripe Sangiovese and the wild, sun-drenched landscapes that define its terroir.
The nose opens with a deep and complex bouquet: ripe forest berries, blood orange, and maraschino cherry rise from the glass, woven together with nuances of aromatic Mediterranean herbs. Subtle yet evocative notes of liquorice, black pepper, and a touch of dark chocolate add layers of intrigue and sensuality.
On the palate, this Riserva is bold and expressive, yet remarkably poised. 2021 Ripa Delle More IGT, Castello Vicchiomaggio
£3395Add to BasketA stylish red showing an abundance of ripe plummy and blueberry fruit, enhanced by hints of herbs and a delicate touch of mint. Layers of dark chocolate, vanilla and juniper. Rich, soft and opulent tannins lead to a long, intense finish. Sophisticated Tuscan at its best.
Ripa delle More was created in 1980 as an innovation, breaking the rules of the time. Then it changed year after year to become a blend of traditional Sangiovese (50%) with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
The grapes are carefully selected from the Ripa delle More vineyard, which is situated at an altitude of 255 to 265 metres above sea-level. The sustainably cultivated vines exceed 20 years in age and are pruned according to the single Guyot method to ensure low yields of approximately 42 hectolitres per hectare. The soil in this vineyard is ‘Galestro’, a rocky, schistous clay soil commonly found in most of Tuscany’s best vineyards, with 30% heavy clay.
