  • 2021 Unoaked Chardonnay Tanguero, Finca FlichmanWhite Wine

2021 Unoaked Chardonnay Tanguero, Finca Flichman

    £1075

This Chardonnay is bright yellow in colour. The nose is fresh and fruity, with tropical notes of pineapple and melon. These ripe aromas carry through to the palate and are balanced with fresh acidity.

Grapes for the Tanguero wines come from the Barrancas region in southern Maipú, Mendoza. The vines here are planted on rocky, well-draining soils to the south of the Mendoza river, at 700 metres above sea level. The vineyards are located at high altitudes, meaning there is a high diurnal range. This extends the growing season and helps to retain freshness and finesse in the wines.

  • 2018 Chardonnay Costa & Pampa, TrapicheWhite Wine

2018 Chardonnay Costa & Pampa, Trapiche

    £1650

This cool-climate coastal Chardonnay was the brainchild of Trapiche winemaker Daniel Pi and his vision has produced sublime wine.  In the glass, it is a golden colour with slight greenish tones, the nose has notes of green apples, pear and hints of toast and butter. It is fresh in the mouth with a marked mineral presence and a long and unctuous finish.

Described by Decanter Magazine as ‘a pure style that’s astonishingly affordable.’

Awarded 97+ points by Oz Clarke who described the 2018 Chardonnay: ‘Up there with the best Chardonnays, I have tasted from Argentina. The vineyards are on the coast just south of Buenos Aires – an experiment, a risk, a dream – and it works; this beauty swirls with oatmeal, hazelnut, soft white apple flesh, peach and honey. It’s scented with apple blossom and honeysuckle and its lemon acidity is as subtle as the cotton that threads through a silken bedsheet.’

  • 2019 ‘Blanco de la Casa’, Matias RiccitelliWhite Wine

2019 ‘Blanco de la Casa’, Matias Riccitelli

    £2495

Complex aromas of green apple, hay and herbaceous notes are underpinned by remarkable minerality. Textured and full flavoured with wonderful fluency and rich energy on the finish.

Each component of the blend comes from carefully selected, high altitude, cool climate sites which produce grapes with aromatic complexity and beautiful freshness. The Sauvignon Blanc vineyard is located in the premium viticultural region of Gualtallary, where the vines are planted in calcareous soils at 1,400 metres above sea level. The Semillon grapes come from a low-yielding 50-year-old vineyard in La Consulta, where the vines grow at 1,000 metres elevation in sandy soils and produce rich, concentrated wines. The Chardonnay component comes from La Carrera which is located at 1,700 metres above sea level in sandy soils which are supported by gravel and boulder.
