Delicious notes of nectarine and citrus layer with hints of vanilla, caramel and a delightful touch of toffee, intertwined with orange peel, almond and subtle hints of clove. Beautifully balanced, with flavours of lime and lemongrass leading to a bright and zesty finish.

Some of the oldest Clairette Blanche vineyards in South Africa are found in the Breedekloof and the grapes for this wine come from a 36-year-old Clairette Blanche vineyard. The region is enclosed by three mountain ranges between the cool Atlantic Ocean and the warm Klein Karoo. The climate provides an ideal balance for a long hang time and a slower ripening of the grapes. The warm, ample sunshine allows the full development of the grape’s sugars and aromatic flavour, while the cooling influence from the surrounding mountains help retain natural acidity in the grapes, ensuring a fresh and vibrant wine profile.

  • 2022 M by Saint-Maur Rose, Château Saint-Maur Rose Wine

    2022 M by Saint-Maur Rose, Château Saint-Maur

    £2350

Located in the southernmost part of Côtes de Provence, Château Saint-Maur benefits from a unique terroir. Nestled between the foothills of the stunning Massif des Maures mountain range and the Mediterranean Sea, this picturesque estate is just 10 km from Saint-Tropez. The oak tree-covered hillsides of Cogolin provide the ideal setting for cultivating grapes that yield iconic, pale pink, Provencal rosé wines.

This shimmering salmon pink rosé offers a delightful expression of Provence’s terroir.   In the glass, it opens with profound scents of strawberries and raspberries, hints of citrus, and herbaceous undertones. On the palate, it is crisp, indulgent, and sophisticated. This wine boasts a lively acidity, a delightful mouthfeel, and a graceful finish with a subtle lemon zest.

It is a fabulous food wine and pairs marvellously with meats (veal roulade with herbs and parmesan, lemon chicken), vegetables, (stuffed, Thai stir-fry), fish (salmon tartare, spaghetti alle vongole) or cheese and dessert (fresh goat’s cheese and redcurrant jelly, strawberry tart).

  • 2020 `Rocking Horse` Cape White Blend, Thorne & Daughters White Wine

    2020 `Rocking Horse` Cape White Blend, Thorne & Daughters

    £2395

This wine is Thorne & Daughters principal and most well-known wine and for good reason, as it’s delicious!  2020 is the first vintage in which Semillon has dominated the blend. On the nose, it reveals aromas of hay, yellow plum, kumquat, and bay leaf, with saline undertones. The palate is broad and supple with notes of glossy stone fruit and subtle gunflint, finishing with a clean line of acidity

The grapes for the Rocking Horse were sourced from a number of very carefully selected growers around the Western Cape. The Roussanne and the Chardonnay come from younger trellised vines, with an average age of 14 years planted in Stellenbosch and Paardeberg mountain on a combination of clay and decomposed granite. Semillon Blanc from Franschhoek, Clairette Blanche from Stellenbosch and Chenin Blanc from Paardeberg add depth and textural complexity to this Cape white blend as they are sourced from old, low-yielding bush vines estimated to be approximately 40 years old.

  • 2011 Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc, Domaine Chante Cigale White Wine

2011 Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc, Domaine Chante Cigale

    £4500

The 2011 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc from Chante Cigale is a floral and exotic expression of Southern Rhone white wine. Rich and tropical, this blend of 25% Roussanne, 25% Grenache Blanc, 25% Bourboulenc, and 25% Clairette is age worthy and in a perfect spot right now after 12 years of development.

The grapes were manually harvested from 25-year-old vines and carefully sorted. The wine was fermented in steel with no malolactic in order to maintain brightness, however the lots were kept on the lees for 3-6 months to best develop the wine’s full-bodied richness.

  • 2010 Cuvee Barberini Blanc, Domaine de la Solitude White Wine

2010 Cuvee Barberini Blanc, Domaine de la Solitude

    £4950

White Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of the rarest and most prestigious wines in France. For most people, Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the southern Rhône Valley means red wine. This is understandable because only 7% of the wines are white.

This cuvée is a tribute to the founding fathers of the Estate. It is made with Roussanne grapes, picked the moment that they take on their golden colour, associated with Grenache Blanc and Clairette grapes. The Roussanne harvest is fermented in new barrels and the Grenache and Clairette grapes in vats. This wine is aged for 8 months on fine lees before being blended. It is an opulent wine due to the large proportion of Roussanne, but it also has beautiful freshness thanks to the Clairette. It can be enjoyed between 1 and 8 years after the harvest, or even kept for longer by those who appreciate mature wines.
