While Inglenook has long been celebrated for its iconic Cabernet Sauvignon, the estate also harbours hidden potential for white wine production. Located in the lower portion of the historic Château vineyard, the “Tank House” block has proven exceptionally well-suited for cultivating white varieties, particularly Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. This area is characterised by sandy-clay loam soils with excellent water retention and underlying gravel that ensures optimal drainage, conditions that promote balance, aromatic intensity, and textural depth. With this foundation, Inglenook’s Sauvignon Blanc is crafted to express both the elegance of its terroir and the precision of the estate’s winemaking philosophy.
The 2020 Inglenook Sauvignon Blanc is a vivid expression of the variety, opening with bright, well-defined aromas of lemon zest, honeydew melon, and white flowers. On the palate, the wine strikes a harmonious balance between vibrancy and texture, featuring a creamy, rounded mid-palate that gracefully unfolds into a lingering, mineral-driven finish. Notes of lemon-lime, white peach, and a subtle saline edge add depth and complexity. Crisp yet refined, this Sauvignon Blanc showcases the estate’s dedication to crafting white wines of purity, precision, and place.
