  • 2018 State of Flux Chardonnay, YealandsWhite Wine

2018 State of Flux Chardonnay, Yealands

    £2950

This Chablis-style single-vineyard, limited-release, unoaked Chardonnay has been fermented and aged for eleven months in a concrete egg. The shape of the vessel causes the yeast to be in a constant state of flux, giving the wine richness and complexity, without any wood flavour to mask the fruit character. Concentrated baked yellow apple, peach, dried apricots and graphite with hints of almond and spices on the nose. In the mouth, it is full-bodied with a complex depth of flavour. Highly layered with a persistent, creamy, spiced apricot finish. The bottles are sealed with vegan wax.

Ideal for grilled fish, cheese boards, roast chicken.  Suitable for vegetarians, vegans and a gluten-free diet.

  • 2021 Saint-Veran Les Terres Noires, Domaine Des Deux RochesWhite Wine

2021 Saint-Veran Les Terres Noires, Domaine Des Deux Roches

    £2950

Domaine des Deux Roches translates as ‘Estate of the Two Rocks’, a reference to the position of this wine estate between the two distinctive, rocky escarpments of Solutre and Vergisson, in the Maconnais area of southern Burgundy. Owners of the Domaine, Jean-Luc Terrier and Christian Collovray make this great Saint-Veran, a white that beats many Burgundies for sheer deliciousness.

Terres Noires is a single vineyard on the south side of the landmark rock of Solutré, where limestone soils mix with black decomposed rock. One-third of this Chardonnay is matured in oak barrels for four months and it is this careful use of oak that is key to the style. It has a lovely forward and expressive peachy fruit style. A medium oaked chardonnay with lemon and butter and a touch of honeysuckle on the nose. Soft and creamy with plenty of body and texture.

  • 2022 Chablis, Michel GayotWhite Wine

    2022 Chablis, Michel Gayot

    £2950

A lively, suave and mineral Chablis with citrus, floral and herbaceous notes leading to a fresh and crisp palate with lovely weight and a flinty note on the finish.

The vines are grown in the heart of the Chablis appellation, where the climate is continental. Cold winters allow the vine to rest and the sap to descend and warm summers, enable the grapes to ripen. The yields are carefully controlled to ensure the highest quality of fruit, by concentrating the flavours in the grapes. The vineyards are cultivated in the traditional manner in accordance with the appellation regulations, but also in order to respect the land and its environment and the biodiversity of the soil. The soils are predominantly Kimmeridgian, which comprise limestone and clay, from which the wines of Chablis draw their unique character, purity and minerality.

  • NV ‘Chalklands’ Classic Cuvee, Simpsons Wine EstateChampagne & Sparkling Wine, English & Welsh Sparkling Wine, Sparkling

NV ‘Chalklands’ Classic Cuvee, Simpsons Wine Estate

    £2995

The epitome of English elegance, this rich golden sparkling wine has enticing aromas of caramelised pear and floral millefeuille, combined with bright citrus flavours, linear precision and impressive length.

The first release of this elegant and luxurious English Sparkling Wine was awarded a Gold Medal and a “Best in Class” title at the 2019 Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships. The 2018 vintage is equally as exquisite and as just as popular – selling out as soon as we get it!

Simpsons Wine Estate is situated in the Elham Valley; an unspoilt seam in the North Downs of Kent where the contours of the land, the climate and the soil are excellent for viticulture. The intensely lime-rich chalk soil forms part of the same chalk ridge that stretches from southern England through Champagne and on to Burgundy. The grapes come from the Roman Road vineyard, named after the route the Romans first marched when invading England in AD 43.  They are grown on south-facing slopes, ensuring heat accumulation in the day and cold air drainage at night. The vineyard is less than eight miles from the coast, providing a crucial maritime influence insulating the fruit against intense temperature variations.

  • 2020 `Reed` Marlborough Chardonnay, Blank CanvasWhite Wine

2020 `Reed` Marlborough Chardonnay, Blank Canvas

    £2995

A complex and layered single vineyard Chardonnay from Waihopai Valley in Marlborough, made by the Blank Canvas duo Matt Thomson and Sophie Parker Thomson.  It shows fleshy white nectarine and orchard fruit, alongside a flint-focussed precision on the palate, with a grainy and honeyed richness. It shows crystalline purity, with powerful savoury oak, and layered complexity.

The Reed vineyard is home to growers Pete and Anne Reed. Situated at the mouth of the Waihopai Valley, they first planted vines on their land in 2001. The soil is low-vigour clay, with a naturally dry micro-climate. The vineyard is planted solely with Clone 95 Chardonnay, a Burgundian clone that Matt Thomson thinks is ideally suited to Marlborough. It is flavour ripe at modest sugar levels, and retains its acid, a balance that Matt likes.

Lismore Estate is based in Greyton within the Overberg region of the Western Cape of South Africa.  It’s here with the Sonderend mountains as a backdrop that winemaker & proprietor Samantha O’Keefe makes her fabulous wines.   ‘ I had a farm in Africa….’  The opening line of Karen Blixen’s classic memoir Out Of Africa comes to mind when you hear Samantha’s amazing story.  A native Californian, Berkeley educated, Sam realised her dream and bought a mountain in Africa.

  • 2023 Chardonnay, AtaraxiaWhite Wine

    2023 Chardonnay, Ataraxia

    £3300

This is a fabulous Chardonnay from South African winemaking star, Kevin Grant.  His wines are highly regarded for their minimalist, non-interventionist winemaking style.  This 2022 Chardonnay is a world-class South African barrel-fermented Chardonnay.

In the glass, it is subtle yet intense, with hints of sun-warmed tropical fruits, gentle peach and vanilla. Fresh on entry with crisp acidity, subtle tropical notes and neatly integrated toasty oakiness.   A New World wine in provenance but Old World in stylistic leaning.

Spontaneous and complete barrel fermentation and subsequent ageing in specially selected French oak barrels sourced exclusively from Burgundian coopers, comprised part of a gentle, minimalist, non-interventionist winemaking approach employed after the “bludgeoning” that occurred at the press. £3350

This vibrant Chardonnay is characterised by great minerality, layered with bright citrus
notes, floral hints and toasted nuts through to a vibrant, saline finish.

The vines thrive at an altitude of 385 metres’ elevation in the Haute Vallée de l’Agly, in the Roussillon region.
