    Small berries big taste! The Swartland wine region of the Western Cape encompasses a uniquely diverse topographic area, with a myriad of microclimates, soils and sites which give rise to wines of full flavour and complexity.  Swartland Winery produces premium single varietal wines from the characterful bush vines grown in the heart of the Swartland, yielding wines of distinctive depth and concentration.

    This 2020 Limited Release Mouvedre has benefited from a few years in bottle to give an intensely coloured wine with a perfumed nose of mocha, chocolate and dark berry flavours, which follow through onto the palate.  Complemented by spicy undertones and soft mouthfeel that lingers on the palate, this is an excellent interpretation of the classic Rhone grape and a bargain to boot!

    Interesting Fact: The Swartland name originates from a description of the indigenous “renosterbos” or rhino bush, which appears to turn black, (“Swart” in Afrikaans), during the summer months.

    Delaire Graff is one of the leading wine estates in South Africa and is situated on the top of the Helshoogte Pass in the Stellenbosch Wine Appellation. It looks down on the Banghoek Valley, and the West and East facing sides of the majestic Simonsberg.

    Morné Vrey, the Estate’s Award-Winning Winemaker, has produced a seriously good wine with this 2020 Delaire Graff Chardonnay Banghoek Reserve.  In the glass it is buttery yellow with aromas of citrus, white fleshed peaches and smoked lime. The palate is rich and generous with flavours of sweet lemon, and stone fruit adding complexity.   Lots of intensity and appetising qualities.

    The grapes for this wine come from the high-altitude terraces located on the steep slopes of Botmaskop Mountain. These terraces are frequently cooled by Atlantic breezes thus the estate can count on impeccable grapes that carry the intensityof fruit that is the hallmark of Delaire Graff wines.

    This bottle with its harmonious curves preserves the charms of a great champagne, gilded as a jewel and sweet as a perfume, which will seduce the finest palates.
    A sumptuous and elegant Champagne, with complex aromas of citrus, fresh bread and biscuity characters, which give way to hints of peach, apricot, quince and floral notes. On the palate, ripe hazelnut envelops delicate notes of crystalline mandarin and orange peel, through to a long finish, full of finesse.

    The three revered Chardonnay Grand Cru sites of Avize, Chouilly, Le Mesnil sur Oger and the Pinot Noir Grand Cru site of Ambonnay produced the grapes for this cuvée.

    This cuvée is a reflection of the close collaboration between Carol Duval-Leroy, President of the House and Sandrine Logette-Jardin, Head Winemaker. It is only produced in the most exceptional years. Interestingly 20% of this wine was matured in used Château d’Yquem barrels, imparting texture and richness. The three revered Chardonnay Grand Cru sites of Oger, Cramant and Le Mesnil sur Oger and the Pinot Noir Grand Cru site of Ambonnay produced the grapes for this cuvée.

    A Champagne of exceptional finesse and aromatic complexity, with brioche, hazelnut and tobacco nuances layered with minerality and wonderful depth of fruit expression. Silky and elegant with great concentration and superb length.

    2002 was a year of exceptional maturity in Champagne. Dominant winds form the north and east kept the vineyards healthy. A dry year, which lead to significant water stress during the early summer, concentrating the flavours in the juice. Harvest took place mid-September and the musts were very rich in sugar, balanced by good acidity. 2002 is considered to be the vintage of the decade; one of magnificent quality.
