  • Offer 2020 Old Vine Savatiano “Orivatis Wild”, Akriotou White Wine

2020 Old Vine Savatiano “Orivatis Wild”, Akriotou

Original price was: £1895.Current price is: £1595. 16% saving

A wildly expressive and complex wine, full of lemon, honeysuckle, peach, melon and buttery aromas. Textured and creamy, with concentrated layers of citrus fruit, wet stone, nuances of bread and a delicious honey note through to a long, intense finish.

The grapes are sourced from a single vineyard called ‘Gouriona’, located in Plataea, a small village at the foot of the Kitheronas Mountain, in Central Greece. The vineyard is situated at an altitude of 250 to 320 metres elevation and during the autumn and winter months cool air masses blow down from the mountains, carrying dew which refreshes the vineyard with crucial humidity. Cold winters, hot summers and long, dry autumns combine with long periods of sunshine to enable the grapes to reach excellent maturity and complexity. The Savatiano variety is suited to the hot, dry climate as it has excellent drought resistant properties. The grapes for this wine come from old vines of 60 to 65 years.

  • Offer 2022 Bacchus Single Estate, New Hall Wine Estate White Wine

2022 Bacchus Single Estate, New Hall Wine Estate

Original price was: £1950.Current price is: £1695. 13% saving

A rich and flavoursome quintessentially English Bacchus, displaying complex and aromatic notes of grapefruit, pear, peach, lime layered with herbaceous overtones of nettle and cut grass.

The Bacchus vines were planted between 1976 and 2018, on well-sheltered, southern facing slopes of the Crouch Valley. The big skies, low rainfall, coastal breezes and the influence of the Blackwater and Crouch Rivers come together to offer ideal climatic conditions. The area is protected from frosts which is beneficial in the capricious English climate. The vineyard is made up of London clay soils, from the Tertiary age, with chalk concealed below the clay deposits. The vines thrive in these warm soils; the clay offers high retention of nitrogen and the nutrient uptake from the clay soils is evident. The soils also provide good balance to the vigour of the vines. Over the years, this site has proven itself to be an ideal place for the growing of vines in England, producing above average crops of high quality grapes.

Rivesaltes ‘Tuilé’, Hors d’âge, Dom Brial

Original price was: £2095.Current price is: £1750. 16% saving

Brick-red in colour, with delicious aromas of ripe red berries, tobacco and stewed prunes, enveloping a voluptuous palate with refined sweetness and wonderful balance.  The wine was aged in old, used French oak barrels for five years- the length of time required for an ‘hors d’âge’ wine.

The Rivesaltes AOC is flanked by the Mediterranean Sea to the east and surrounded by mountain ranges with the Pyrenees to the west, and the Albères to the south. In geological terms, the appellation endured enormous upheavals in the tertiary and quaternary periods, which created a complex variety of soils, subsoils and a multitude of terroirs. The terroir ranges from the Quaternary Terraces with red pebbles resting on shallow soils, on a clay subsoil with low water reserves which is where the Grenache Noir vines are planted- the variety used to produce the Rivesaltes Tuilé cuvée.

  • Offer 2021 Syrah ‘TH’, Undurraga Red Wine

    2021 Syrah ‘TH’, Undurraga

Original price was: £2450.Current price is: £1950. 20% saving

Cool climate Syrah with spicy, peppery aromas and notes of fresh wild herbs and subtle tar surround a core of fresh raspberries and wild berries. Mineral on the palate, with a tense tannin structure and a vibrant acidity that gives freshness and identity to the wine.

Located to the west of the coastal mountain range, the Leyda Valley has gently rolling hills, exposing the vines to varying levels of sunlight and drainage profiles. The soils are developed from granite rock on the coastal batholith formed 200 million years ago in the Jurassic period. For this wine, the grapes were selected from a small plot of Syrah grown in finely textured soils. The top layer is shallow loamy clay with poor fertility, followed by a sedimentary ‘crack’ clay profile. The subsoil is decomposed granite rock with a diverse mineral structure. The plot is densely planted with 10,000 vines per hectare of French Clones 174 and 470 on a north-facing slope exposed to the sun. The yield was two kilograms per plant, which favours the concentration necessary to achieve a wine with great richness.

  • Offer 2019 Watervale Riesling, clos Clare Wine Republic Heros White Wine

    2019 Watervale Riesling, clos Clare

Original price was: £2495.Current price is: £1995. 20% saving

As the third generation of the Barry winemaking family, brothers Sam & Tom Barry now hold the keys to this boutique winery. Riesling is the Clare Valley’s signature variety and this is the 10th vintage from clos Clare’s Riesling patch, adjoining the historic ‘Florita’ vineyard in Watervale.

It is a hand-crafted wine showing poise, elegance and character. Delicate aromas of lemons and limes, carry through onto the palate. The palate shows a great balance between citrus fruit and the hallmark acidity of the 2019 vintage and leads to a delicious and mouthwatering finish.

Located in the prestigious Watervale sub-region of the Clare Valley, the vineyard itself is over 70 years old, although the Riesling vines were replanted 46 years ago. Situated in the southwest corner of the former La Florita vineyard, the clos Clare vineyard comprises two hectares. The vines are dry-grown, which is facilitated by the clay content of the soil, as it helps to retain the moisture to nourish the vine. The canopy management techniques used in the vineyard differ according to the orientation of the vine: the north-facing vines are exposed to the sun, while the south-facing vines are protected by the canopy vegetation.

  • Offer ‘Dubl’ Falanghina Brut Spumante, Feudi di San Gregorio Champagne & Sparkling Wine

‘Dubl’ Falanghina Brut Spumante, Feudi di San Gregorio

Original price was: £2895.Current price is: £2400. 17% saving

This magnificent 100% Falanghina sparkling wine is a collaboration between Pierpaolo Sirch of Feudi di San Gregorio and top Champagne producer Anselme Selosse, who collaborated in 2004 to form a “double act” combining the excellence of Anselme’s Champagne winemaking skill with Pierpaolo’s deep understanding of the uniqueness of the Irpinia terroir. The culmination of this was the launch of the “Dubl” range.

A fresh and aromatic wine with notes of crisp golden delicious apple, peach and floral hints of camomile, complemented by rounder notes of apricot. Captivating, fragrant and dynamic on the palate with a lively, persistent mousse and a long, pleasing finish.  The wine spent 18 months ageing on its fine lees adding texture and complexity.

The beautiful Feudi di San Gregorio vineyards are spread out over lush and gentle hills in Sorbo Serpico, approximately an hour from Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The region lies in the heart of the Southern Apennines, which is characterised by a continuous succession of mountains, hills and plains interspersed with rivers. The estate covers 250 hectares of vineyard divided into approximately 800 lots which are almost entirely devoted to native Campania vines. The vineyards are situated between 350 and 700 metres above sea level and the soils are volcanic, with a good percentage of clay. The climate is not the type of climate typically associated with southern Italy as the winters can be harsh and often snowy and the summers are breezy rather than scorching hot. The intense diurnal temperature variation, the winds that sweep through the vineyards and the exposure to the warming sun results in a unique combination set to express the full potential of the grapes.
