2021 ‘Essensia’ Orange Muscat, Quady – 375ml
£1550Add to BasketVibrantly coloured, Essencia delivers luscious sweet oranges and apricots on the palate with bittersweet orange marmalade notes which balance well with the fresh citrussy finish.
In 1980 Andrew Quady discovered a parcel of underused Orange Muscat grapes in Reedley, California, which led him to make a wine that celebrated the intense aromas and spicy fruit flavours of the grapes. In Italy, the variety is known as Moscato Fior d’Arancio: Orange Blossom Muscat.

2022 Primitivo, Cantele
£1595Add to BasketCantele became a Salento Primitivo pioneer when it released this wine more than a decade ago. Made from 100% Primitivo grapes and vinified in stainless steel and then aged in oak for 6 months, this lithe expression of Puglia’s most famous grape offers aromas of black cherry, plum and spice. The palate is smooth and soft with delicious ripe raspberry and mulberry fruits, good acidity and well integrated tannins.
A favourite pairing for a juicy burger.
Situated in the heart of the Mediterranean, Puglia is a land of rare beauty, where vast plains alternate with gentle hills. Salento, the long narrow strip that forms Puglia’s southern peninsula, extends between the Ionian and Adriatic seas. It’s an area rich with ancient olive groves and vines, enchanting beaches and jagged rocky shoreline. -
Rose Wine
2023 Negroamaro Rosato, Cantele
£1595Add to BasketThe village folk still call it Niuru Maru: Negroamaro, meaning bitter black (red).
In another era, Negroamaro was grown solely to ship to the north of Italy where the colder climate made it challenging to obtain the desired color and alcohol levels in the wines they produced. But in recent decades, more and more Salento wineries have looked to the variety as one of the most noble expressions of Pugliese viticulture.
FCantele’s rosé wines are made from a selection of top Negroamaro grapes that are used to make their flagship wines. Winemaker Gianni Cantele, to achieve their deep rose hue and their rich aroma and flavour, employs the Italian salasso method (known in English and French as saignée): as the Negroamaro grapes are macerating on their skins to extract the variety’s naturally dark colour, he racks off — in other words, he “bleeds” off (hence the name) — some of the must to another tank. After vinification, the resulting wine is aged and bottled as the Rosato di Negroamaro (rosé from Negroamaro).
This is an ideal wine for appetizers, pizza, fish and seafood, and simple first and second courses — especially vegetable-based recipes.

Mendel Winery embodies the union of Roberto de la Mota with a nearly century-old Argentine family, whose sole objective is to produce wine of unquestionable, superior quality. Proprietor and longtime wine lover, Anabelle Sielecki, diligently tracked down the very best talent Argentina had to offer when seeking Mendel’s winemaker, and with utmost charm and perseverance, brought Roberto de la Mota on board. Having worked for many years at the iconic Château Cheval Blanc in Saint-Émilion, Roberto de la Mota is one of Argentina’s most respected and experienced winemakers.

2017 Petit Verdot Mini Ediciones, Finca Decero
£3775Add to BasketFinca Decero is a world-class wine producer located in the Agrelo sub-appellation of Luján de Cuyo in the northwestern part of the province of Mendoza. Their famed Remolinos Vineyard derives its name from the little whirlwind spiral formations of soil which form in the afternoon as the gentle wind lifts the dry soil from the paths of the vineyard into swaying ‘dust devils’. This natural phenomenon draws the attention of our overly protective Lechuza owls in the vineyard who sometimes take flight seemingly to chase them away!
The 2017 Finca Decero Mini Ediciones Petit Verdot is a bold and expressive red wine crafted from the best grapes grown on the estate’s high-altitude vineyards in Mendoza, Argentina. Made from 100% Petit Verdot grapes that have been carefully harvested and hand-selected before being aged for 14 months in French oak barrels. The result is a deeply concentrated wine with intense aromas of dark berries, toasted oak, and hints of spice. On the palate, this wine is full-bodied with rich and complex flavours of black cherry, black currant, and vanilla. The finish is long and smooth, leaving an unforgettable impression.
Of this 2017 vintage, only 9,936 bottles were made.

2017 Syrah ‘G.P.S Series’, Kershaw
£4750Add to BasketAn outstanding Syrah and easily one of South Africas best examples.
It is restrained, yet with intent and subtle power, wines from this vineyard are characterised by piercing black pepper flavours and powdery tannins complete with rich textures and a prodigious breadth of black-orientated fruit. The 2017 shows a mid-ruby colour, a nose heady with aromas of black pepper, cinnamon stick, star anise and black cherry panna cotta. Succulent in texture, this medium-bodied Syrah is voluminous with a core of juicy Morello cherries, liquorice and molasses complexed with gorse bush, baked plums, bay leaf and angostura bitters underpinned with fine grippy tannins and a long lush finish. Only 1765 bottles were produced.
The G.P.S. (Grape Positioning System) series is made from exciting small parcels of fruit selected from carefully chosen vineyards outside the Elgin Valley. The grapes for this wine come from the Klein River ward, which is one of the smallest wine wards in South Africa. Almost 20 years ago, the first Syrah vines were planted in an area that has traditionally been used for sheep and wheat farming. Three hectares were set aside for Syrah, on shale-derived Glenrosa soil. These soils are normally the hallmark of warmer areas, but these vines nestle against the Klein River Mountain range, which combined with the nearby Akkedis Valley, provide a portal through which the cool sea breezes from the Walker Bay penetrate, creating a mild meso-climate in summer.
