Bristol Spirits, Labourdonnais Distillery2010 Maurituis Labourdonnais Rum, Bristol Classic Rums
Bristol Classic Rums, founded by renowned rum connoisseur John Barrett, is a UK-based independent bottler celebrated for sourcing and ageing exceptional rums from across the globe. With a focus on authenticity, terroir, and cask-driven complexity, Bristol Classic Rums hand-selects rare and characterful spirits from the Caribbean and beyond, maturing them under optimal conditions before bottling without chill filtration or artificial additives. Each release reflects a commitment to traditional rum-making, provenance, and unadulterated expression.
The 2010 Mauritius Labourdonnais Rum is a distinguished example of this philosophy. Distilled in 2010 at the Labourdonnais Distillery in Mauritius, a producer known for its cane juice-based rums, it was aged primarily in American oak barrels and finished in ex-Cognac casks, culminating in a 2021 bottling at 47% ABV.
In the glass, it presents a golden amber hue. The nose offers aromas of soft fruit, golden syrup, and oak spice, complemented by notes of mango, banana, guava, ginger, apricot, oak, and caramel. On the palate, it is silky and full-bodied, delivering flavours of white grapes, yuzu, maraschino cherries, and a touch of sea salt, with a finish that is long and warming, leaving impressions of oak spices and cane juice.
