Magallanes is the pet project of winemaker César Muñoz, who has previously worked at Vega Sicilia, arguably the finest producer in Spain. Sourcing from Baños de Valdearados and Bocigas Perales, two high-altitude vineyard sites in the east of the Ribera del Duero DO, and from vines approaching 100 years of age, Cesar has some of the best natural resources available to him. To this he adds his own winemaking style, which involves rigorous grape selection and ageing for approximately 2 years in new French oak barrels.

This fully mature wine is made from 100% Tempranillo and has aromas of black fruit with spicy toasted notes on the nose.  The palate is balanced but powerful with a delicous richness with a touch of minerality.
