Luigi Bosca

2021 Malbec DOC De Sangre, Luigi Bosca

Mendoza, ArgentinaVintage: 2022

Luigi Bosca is a renowned wine producer with over 120 years of history in Mendoza. The winery is a family-owned business, founded for the Arizu family in 1901 that has been producing high-quality wines for generations. This Malbec was one of the first Argentine wines with a Designation of Origin.

In the glass it has a deep and bright red violet wine with balanced aromas and red fruit and sweet spice notes. It is refreshing and voluptuous in the mouth, with fine and gentle tannins, while it is clean and expressive in the palate, with a strong character, typicity and a deep finish with soft smoked hues as a result of its ageing in oak barrels. It is a great exponent of the variety and the terroir, with good ageing potential.

Description

Luigi Bosca is a renowned wine producer with over 120 years of history in Mendoza. The winery is a family-owned business, founded for the Arizu family in 1901 that has been producing high-quality wines for generations.

The winery`s commitment to quality and sustainability is evident in its vineyards, which are located in some of the most privileged areas of Mendoza. Luigi Bosca`s wines are crafted using traditional techniques and the latest technology to produce exceptional wines that are highly sought after by wine enthusiasts and collectors alike.

Luigi Bosca`s Malbec DOC 1991 was the first release that conquered the world, and it continues to be a benchmark for Argentine wines. The Denomination of Origin Lujan de Cuyo is an example of the innovation and forward-looking approach of Alberto Arizu, which changed the history of Argentine wines .
The family has 1500 acres in the best valleys at the foothills of the Andes mountains in Mendoza, where they feature their collection of wines that have been awarded worldwide, setting the standards for a new era of global wine production.

Luigi Bosca`s vision is to continue their legacy of making handcrafted wines in balance with their environment. The consistent transfer of expert knowledge through generations and their commitment to excellence and sustainability have become the family hallmark.

The grapes are manually harvested in 18 to 20-kilogram boxes, followed by the bunch selection and stalking processes, and, subsequently, berry selection. The grape juice is cold macerated at a temperature ranging between 8 and 10 °C for five to seven days. After that, it is fermented in small stainless steel tanks, undergoing various extractions, such as plunging and rack and return (délestage). Once maceration is completed, wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels, where it goes through malolactic fermentation. The wine is then filtered and bottled, and then stowed in the wine cellar for at least six months before it enters the market.
