Jean Baptiste Jessiaume2022 Bourgogne Chardonnay, Jean Baptiste Jessiaume
Burgundy, FranceVintage: 2022
This Bourgogne Chardonnay is the perfect introduction to a boutique producer on the rise, Jean-Baptiste Jessiaume has delivered quality for a price that is hard to find in Burgundy today.
Crafted from hand-harvested fruit, it was barrel-fermented and aged in a mix of large oak vats and smaller barrels, and yet the oak, even at this young stage, is not dominant. It has great concentration with excellent refreshing natural acidity which alludes to it being made from old vines.
In the glass, it is a shimmery gold colour with aromas apple, white peach, citrus, wildflowers and light oak spice. The palate is textured but crystalline, creamy and citrusy, flashy but classic—in short, everything you could ask for in a Burgundy Chardonnay! Drink now to 2027. Match with roast chicken or rich seafood like lobster, scallops or Turbot.

Description
The Jessiaume family has roots in the Côte de Beaune village of Santenay dating to the 1830s when they bought the estate of the Marquis of Saint-Innocent.
Jean-Baptiste Jessiaume, representing the sixth generation, grew up watching his father, Marc, make wine, and the two continued to run Jessiaume for several years after selling the estate in 2006. The pair later moved down to Bouzeron in the Côte Chalonnaise to take over Domaine Chanzy.
After this Jean-Baptiste returned to Santenay and set up his own Maison. Blessed with impeccable vineyard sources in the Côte de Beaune and Chalonnaise they create a rich and generous range of fine and distinguished wines, whose character brings out the best of the Burgundy grape varieties. Their lineup of wines is large but all are of tiny production.
100% manually harvested, upon arrival at the winery the grapes are directly pressed without crushing. After a light settling the musts are directly placed into barrels. Matured for 12 months, 50% in vats and 50% in barrels.
