Tandem2022 Inmacula, Tandem
Navarra, SpainVintage: 2022
Tandem is the inspired collaboration between José Maria Fraile and Alicia Eyaralar, two of Navarra’s most respected winemaking figures. Situated in the pristine Yerri Valley, Tandem is guided by a philosophy of sustainable viticulture and minimal intervention, producing wines that reflect both the purity of the land and the integrity of the fruit.
Inmacùla, meaning “without blemish” in Latin, perfectly embodies the estate’s commitment to purity and finesse. A radiant blend of Viognier (90%) and Viura (10%), the 2022 vintage is vibrant, expressive, and beautifully poised.
The wine opens with perfumed aromas of jasmine, white peach, and apricot, layered with subtle floral tones and an elegant thread of minerality. The palate is bright and textured, showing generous fruit depth and a refined creaminess balanced by a precise, refreshing acidity. Delicate notes of citrus blossom and crushed stone add nuance to a lingering, mineral-driven finish.

Description
Tandem is the brainchild of José Maria Fraile and Alicia Eyaralar, two of the leading lights in the Navarra winemaking scene. Committed to making the best wines in the region with minimal intervention in the vineyards and winery, Tandem is cited by critics as ‘cutting edge’ Navarra. The grapes are cultivated in the heart of the Yerri Valley, which is recognised as the best area for quality wine in the region. Respect for nature is an obsession – they follow the precepts of sustainable viticulture, while maintaining the vineyard’s health and viability. In the winery, a minimum intervention approach is also taken to ensure the grapes reflect their true character and terroir. In 2019, Tandem were certified Vegan and accredited the internationally recognised ‘V label’ by the European Vegetarian Union.
This wine was vinified following organic principles. The grapes were harvested at night to retain freshness and after several hours of pre-fermentation maceration at 10°C, the must was racked. 100% of the Viognier was fermented in 300-litre French oak barrels while the Viura was fermented in stainless steel. Daily bâtonnage lasted for four months adding texture and complexity. Tandem’s winery is built partially underground to create a gravity-fed winery with minimal stress for the wines.
