Champagne Gaston ChiquetChampagne Rosé 1er Cru, Champagne Gaston Chiquet
Champagne, FranceVintage: NV
Champagne Gaston Chiquet is one of finest grower estates in the Grand Vallée de la Marne. Chiquet’s wines combine a generous depth of fruit with a pronounced character of place — if you want to know what the wines of the Grande Vallée should feel like, these are an excellent introduction.
With a luminous pink-orange hue, the Gaston Chiquet Rosé 1er Cru is an elegant Champagne produced from a blend of 40% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Meunier and 30% Pinot Noir. Gaston Chiquet has been run by eight generations of the Chiquet family. Currently, the two brothers Antoine and Nicolas assure continuity while respecting their ancestral roots.
In the glass it has aromas of fresh peach, red berries, mint, green apples, rhubarb and pastry cream. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, crisp and fleshy, with a charming core of fruit, racy acids and a lingering, flavourful finish.
Notable Awards
93 points VINOUS
“The NV Brut Ros, (45% Pinot Noir, 30% Meunier, 25% Chardonnay) is a rich, deeply-colored Champagne to enjoy at the dinner table. Succulent red cherry, plum, blood orange, cinnamon and dried flowers fill out its layers. Despite its obvious richness, this remains light on its feet and supremely elegant. What a delight. Dosage is 6-8 grams per liter. Disgorged: March, 2022.”
91 points WINE SPECTATOR
“A well-cut ros, Champagne, offering a textured, raw silk†like mousse, with rich hints of almond biscotti and smoke to the core of wild cherry and strawberry fruit, anise and pickled ginger. Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Disgorged May 2023. Drink now.”

Description
Champagne Gaston Chiquet has been passed down through eight generations since 1746, when Nicolas Chiquet planted his first vines. It was brothers Fernand and Gaston who, in 1919, made the bold decision to keep their grapes and producer their own wine. Since 2003, this property has been in the very capable hands of brothers Antoine and Nicolas Chiquet. Together with Marion (Antoine’s daughter) they work 23 hectares of vineyards in Dizy, Aÿ, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and Hautvillers. They cultivate Chardonnay (50%), Pinot Meunier (30%) and Pinot Noir (20%). Committed to protecting their land for future generations, they have both the Champagne Sustainable Viticulture and High Environmental Value certification, which they were awarded in 2015.
