Morgon is one of the 10 Beaujolais Crus and the Morgon terroir is very complex. Located on the smooth slopes of Mont de Py, the soil consists of blue volcanic shists, sand and the Saone’s river sediments, which impart the wine with more power and structure than the other Crus. The steep slope on which these old vines reside flows down into Moulin-à-Vent, which is why ‘Les Moriers’ has gained such great recognition. Bottled unfined and unfiltered this wine is like a marriage of the two styles; the typical floral Fleurie character but it also has the intensity normally associated with Moulin-à-Vent.
