2024 ‘Cuvée Marie Christine’ Rosé, Château de l’Aumérade

    £1775

This magnificent Cru Classé Côtes de Provence Rosé has a lovely pale powder pink hue, with refreshing aromas of grapefruit leading to succulent peach and apricot on the palate. Fruit forward and full, with a hint of spice, this elegant rosé has a refreshing acidity and a long finish.

The Cuvée Marie-Christine rosé is made exclusively from an 89 hectare Cru Classé parcel, located on the plains of Pierrefeu. The mineral-rich terroir of red clay and limestone soils in this parcel provides good drainage and the vines receive cooling ventilation from the salty Mistral winds blowing in from the sea just a few miles away. Château Aumerade holds the Haute Valeur Environmentale (HVE) certification, which officially recognises the environmental performance of winegrowers, including biodiversity conservation, plant protection strategies, managed fertiliser use and water resource management.

In the glass, it shimmers with a luminous, bright pink hue typical of the finest Provençal Rosés. The bouquet is inviting and vibrant, bursting with notes of wild strawberries, white peach, and citrus zest, delicately accented by floral hints and a touch of spice. On the palate, the wine is fresh and beautifully layered, balancing ripe fruit with vivid acidity and a mineral core that reflects the vineyard’s clay-limestone soils. 2022 M by Saint-Maur Rose, Château Saint-Maur

    £2350

Located in the southernmost part of Côtes de Provence, Château Saint-Maur benefits from a unique terroir. Nestled between the foothills of the stunning Massif des Maures mountain range and the Mediterranean Sea, this picturesque estate is just 10 km from Saint-Tropez. The oak tree-covered hillsides of Cogolin provide the ideal setting for cultivating grapes that yield iconic, pale pink, Provencal rosé wines.

This shimmering salmon pink rosé offers a delightful expression of Provence’s terroir.   In the glass, it opens with profound scents of strawberries and raspberries, hints of citrus, and herbaceous undertones. On the palate, it is crisp, indulgent, and sophisticated. This wine boasts a lively acidity, a delightful mouthfeel, and a graceful finish with a subtle lemon zest.

It is a fabulous food wine and pairs marvellously with meats (veal roulade with herbs and parmesan, lemon chicken), vegetables, (stuffed, Thai stir-fry), fish (salmon tartare, spaghetti alle vongole) or cheese and dessert (fresh goat’s cheese and redcurrant jelly, strawberry tart).

2023 Grande Reserve Rosé, Château La Mascaronne

    £4695

The 2023 Grande Réserve Rosé from Château La Mascaronne is a refined expression of terroir-driven elegance and meticulous craftsmanship. Sourced from the estate’s finest parcels of Grenache and Mourvèdre, alongside the oldest plantings of Rolle, this cuvée showcases both the depth and finesse that Provence rosé can achieve.

Harvested by hand at dawn to preserve freshness, each varietal is pressed and vinified separately in small 500L ovoid vats, an artisanal approach that enhances texture and aromatic precision. After extended ageing on fine lees, the wine emerges with a luminous, naturally pale hue and a delicately layered bouquet of wild strawberry, white peach, rose petal, and citrus zest. On the palate, it is poised and structured, unfolding with notes of ripe orchard fruit, hints of spice, and a subtle mineral backbone that carries through to a long, savoury finish. This is a rosé of impressive complexity and ageability, designed to be as compelling at release as it is after several years in the cellar.
