A light and refreshing white Rioja made from Viura, Verdejo & Tempranillo Blanco. It delivers notes of exotic fruits, wildflowers and ripe pears through to a zesty finish.
The grapes were carefully sorted upon arrival at the winery and the three varieties were fermented separately in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures of between 14 and 16°C. The wines were matured on their lees for two months, with periodic racking to add complexity. Carefully blended showcasing wonderful freshness, aromatics and pure fruit flavours.

The Tempranillo Blanco grapes are grown in the cool-climate sub regions of the Iregua Valley and the mountainous area of Nalda, Albelda and Clavijo. The warm days and cool nights prolong the ripening period and preserve aromatic richness in the fruit. The soils made up of a mixture of ferrous clay, with calcareous clay. The soils are generally deep with sandy components, which imparts agility and depth to the wine. The Tempranillo Blanco variety produces few clusters, which means it ripens quickly, this trait is balanced by the soils which impart natural freshness. The vineyards are farmed using sustainable methods; chemical sprays are not used, instead organic products are employed in order to protect the environment and biodiversity of the vineyard. This sustainable approach encourages the best expression of the terroir and a true reflection of the aromas and flavours of the white Rioja grape varieties.

The 2018 Tempranillo de Laderas has pure and precise aromas of cherries and red berries are layered with herbal notes of thyme through to a textured palate. This wine shows an excellent balance between fresh natural acidity, fruit concentration and firm, but fine-grained tannins.
‘Laderas’ means hillside and this wine takes its name from the hillside vineyards on which the grapes are grown. The fruit is carefully selected from over 300 parcels that are situated on the slopes of the Sierra Cantabria, in Rioja Alavesa. The average plot size is just 0.3 hectares and the average age of the vineyard is approximately 50 years, but some of the vines are significantly older, producing low yields of concentrated juice. The Gobelet trained vines are planted in limestone soils, resulting in elegant wines that are fresh, precise and age-worthy due to the balancing acidity.
Finca San Martin Crianza captures the young spirit of Rioja Alavesa, always a reliable and delicious Crianza that drinks like many Reserva’s.
This 2021 Vintage displays a nose that is fresh with vibrant fruit aromas and hints of wild strawberries, raspberries and cranberries. This 2015 has a complex and mature bouquet that offers rich fruit aromas, along with hints of spice and notes of raisined fruit layered with tobacco and leather. Elegant and velvety, this is classic Gran Reserva Rioja.
The carefully selected grapes for this wine come from old vineyards surrounding the village of Viana, which overlooks the Rioja Valley, in what is now known as Rioja Oriental. The climate is continental with a noticeable Mediterranean influence. The 40-year-old, low-yielding vines are situated on the slopes which climb up toward the Sierra Mountains at elevations of 600 to 750 metres, where the diversity of the soils contributes to the complexity of the wine.

Pujanza is a boutique winery in Laguardia, in Rioja Alavesa, known for crafting precise, terroir-driven wines. Their vineyards sit on limestone soils at high altitude, bringing freshness and finesse to Tempranillo. This wine is a contemporary take on Rioja – polished, elegant, and pure.
Founded in 2004 by famed winemaker Miguel Ángel de Gregorio in the heart of Rioja Alta, Finca Nueva leads the new wave of Riojan wines that adhere to Rioja’s traditional aging and classification system, but are more fresh, fun and enjoyable on the palate than their conventional ‘old-world’ Riojan counterparts.
In the glass this wine opens with pronounced aromas of ripe red fruit and cassis. On the palate, the wine mimics the nose and is well-balanced with perfectly integrated tannins and a nice finish. Clean, complex and elegant, this is another top wine from winemaker Miguel Ángel de Gregorio.
Winemaker Oscar Alegre is at the forefront of a revolution in Spain. “Traditional Rioja is actually only 150 years old, driven by French influence at the end of the 19th Century – but Alegre Valgañon are among those championing a return to the much deeper roots of the region, making wine as it was before Phylloxera. Oscar and his wife Eva make gorgeous, sculpted Rioja from old plots of vines in the shadow of the Obarenes Mountains which are some of the highest and coolest in the region, yielding wines that are refined and aromatic. Their vineyard plots are managed meticulously and they favour whole bunch fermentation, long macerations and ageing in large, neutral barrels.
In the glass this 2020 Rioja Tinto is silky smooth with a freshness and lightness of touch to it’s crunchy red, mineral tinged fruits. Garnacha adds a little bit of weight but overall the wine is wonderfully silky and elegant with terroir and fruit shining through rather than oak.
Bodegas Nivarius specialises in the production of white wines from cool-climate vineyards in Rioja. This wine represents the perfect blend of the terroir and the cool-climate region, with its warm days and cool nights prolonging the ripening period and encouraging aromatic richness. The Viura grapes come from the sandy soils of the Najerilla, and the limestone soils of the Sonsierra, and are blended with Maturana Blanca from the Iregua Valley, grown in sandy soils. Maturana Blanca is an ancient native variety with small clusters and small, elliptical grapes which produces vibrant, tangy wines characterised by high, natural acidity.
