    A light and fresh blend of southern French varietals which come together with delicious notes of crunchy red and black fruits on a smooth, juicy palate. Easy drinking style.

    The grapes come from the AOP Côtes de Roussillon, where the vineyards are located within a natural amphitheatre open to the Mediterranean Sea and are surrounded by mountain ranges. The climate is Mediterranean, strongly influenced by cooling coastal breezes combined with mountain-freshness from the foothills of the Pyrenees which balance the hot, arid summers. The vines are grown on the Roussillon plains where the soils are made up of alluvial marls with black schist, which imparts great aromatic complexity to the wines, characterised by notes of black fruits, garrigue and freshness. The vineyard is certified organic.

    The Love Grass 2017 is a Shiraz straight from the d’Arenberg playbook. As a young wine when first opened, it may appear closed, dark and brooding. Tar, earth and black liquorice. Air and time both help to massage out the abundant sweet fruits, blackberry and plum with an undertone of fennel and spice. In a similar way, the palate starts quite muscular and tight but over time relaxes into a more generous juicy wine. As the juicy fruit evolves the initially rustic tannins start to settle into it like sinking into a plush armchair. The strong earth characters are a nod to the organic and biodynamic principles adopted in the vineyard. The character of the fruit is gently supported, rather than dominated, by savoury old oak barrels. All in all, this is a structural wine that over-delivers at the price point and will certainly benefit from decanting whilst rewarding those with the patience to cellar it well for 5 to 10 years

    Lovegrass is a weed that grows in the vineyards and its sticky flowers affectionately attach themselves to vineyard workers’ socks. This Shiraz will linger with you in the same way that the flowers do!

During the ripening period the mornings are damp and windy, while the afternoons and evenings are cooled by the sea breezes resulting in moderate maximum temperatures. This helps to ensure the slow and gradual ripening of the grapes, encouraging the aromas and flavours in the fruit balanced by natural refreshing acidity.

    The village folk still call it Niuru Maru: Negroamaro, meaning bitter black (red).

    In another era, Negroamaro was grown solely to ship to the north of Italy where the colder climate made it challenging to obtain the desired color and alcohol levels in the wines they produced. But in recent decades, more and more Salento wineries have looked to the variety as one of the most noble expressions of Pugliese viticulture.

    FCantele’s rosé wines are made from a selection of top Negroamaro grapes that are used to make their flagship wines. Winemaker Gianni Cantele, to achieve their deep rose hue and their rich aroma and flavour, employs the Italian salasso method (known in English and French as saignée): as the Negroamaro grapes are macerating on their skins to extract the variety’s naturally dark colour, he racks off — in other words, he “bleeds” off (hence the name) — some of the must to another tank. After vinification, the resulting wine is aged and bottled as the Rosato di Negroamaro (rosé from Negroamaro).

    This is an ideal wine for appetizers, pizza, fish and seafood, and simple first and second courses — especially vegetable-based recipes.

    A wildly expressive and complex wine, full of lemon, honeysuckle, peach, melon and buttery aromas. Textured and creamy, with concentrated layers of citrus fruit, wet stone, nuances of bread and a delicious honey note through to a long, intense finish.

    The grapes are sourced from a single vineyard called ‘Gouriona’, located in Plataea, a small village at the foot of the Kitheronas Mountain, in Central Greece. The vineyard is situated at an altitude of 250 to 320 metres elevation and during the autumn and winter months cool air masses blow down from the mountains, carrying dew which refreshes the vineyard with crucial humidity. Cold winters, hot summers and long, dry autumns combine with long periods of sunshine to enable the grapes to reach excellent maturity and complexity. The Savatiano variety is suited to the hot, dry climate as it has excellent drought resistant properties. The grapes for this wine come from old vines of 60 to 65 years.

    The Rosso IGT Puglia Vino Appassimento Gold Release from Ca’Vittoria is a 60% Negroamaro, 25% Merlot, 15% Primitivo blend of grapes grown and harvested in the Salento area of Puglia, with picking occurring as late as October. This gives a high level of sugar and high alcohol, required for the appassimento method. ripe grapes mature on the vine for about 15 days, during which period 50% of their weight and moisture is lost. After a rigorous hand harvest, the grapes are pressed and the fermentation starts; the skins are left in the must for a long period to extract flavours and the characteristic ruby red colour. The wine is then left in oak for around 3-4 months. The resulting wine is concentrated and moreish, with characteristic notes of plums and raisins.
