Bruno Giacosa’s Dolcetto d’Alba is an immediately appealing wine produced from grapes grown on exceptional hillside vineyards. This 2019 Classic Blend is a collaboration between Harry Hartman and Tongai Joseph Dhafana, a refugee who turned winemaker, an award-winning Sommelier, a wine judge, a philanthropist and the proud owner of the internationally recognised Mosi Wines and Spirits.
In the glass, the wine unleashes a refreshing fragrance born from sun-baked-slate, ripe berry fruit, and a peppery perfume of lavender. The wine is packed with dark fruit like blackberry, mulberry, and plum, with a cool, herbaceous gloss. Hints of rum and raisin positively points to full ripeness, joined by a notable yet balanced alcohol adding to the full, rounded texture of the wine. Clever use of oak adds structure while honouring the fruit, affirmed with a mellow and gentle pull of berry compote. Garigue aromas persist on the palate, edged with fresh acidity and supple tannin for a mouth-watering finish. A coolness lingers on the palate with a gentler aftertaste of dark, sea salt chocolate. Ocean Eight are owned by the Aylward family – founders of the renowned Kooyong winery. Winemaker Mike Aylward produces stunning cool climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, taking influence from the great old world wine regions of Alsace, Burgundy and Champagne.
This is a modern style Pinot Noir with a complex nose full of dark red cherries, a touch of vanilla complemented by hints of Earl Grey tea and rhubarb. The palate is beautifully knitted together with soft, velvety tannins in a supple yet rich style.

Brokenwood Hunter Valley Shiraz is an icon of the region, it typifies the excellence of the Brokenwood winery. This 2021 is a stunning example of young Hunter Shiraz, fresh, supple with impressive length. Dry herbs and unctous dark fruits are completed by a lovely texture in the mouth.
Piemonte produces some of the finest, most Burgundian, examples of Chardonnay in Italy. This is one of the best – a complex barrel-aged style, and one of Italy’s finest examples of the grape. The Chardonnay grapes are sourced from two parcels of vines. One is in Barbaresco, just below Martinenga, facing south-west at an altitude of 230m. The second is on the north-east side of Monte Aribaldo in the commune of Treiso, 370 metres above sea level.
This delicious 2009 Chardonnay shows aromas of nectarine, Mirabelle plum, fresh herbs and minerals, with a suggestion of exotic fruits. Sweet, suave and expansive, with an exotic botrytis hint to the nectarine and sexy oak flavours. This wine spentt 21 months in lightly toasted new Allier barrels, with the lees being stirred regularly for the first 12 months.
White WineA fresh, invigorating and mineral expression of Sancerre from the famous Silex soils, this stunning cuvée shows beautiful structure and longevity.
The 55-hectare estate comprises 93 different plots over the five villages of Thauvenay, Ménétréol, Bué, Sancerre and Crézancy. This combination offers the possibility to select from the best plots from a range of terroirs with distinct mesoclimates, resulting in complexity in the wine. The region’s rolling hills and semi-continental climate produce beautifully structured Sauvignon Blancs that are crisp and fresh, evoking aromas of ripe gooseberries, smoke and gunflint notes. The grapes for this cuvée come from two plots rich in clay and with a high flint content, known as Silex. Silex is a type of sedimentary soil which is rich in flint; renowned for imbuing the wines with a distinctive flinty, mineral character.

This Domaine stretches from the high terraces of the ‘La Crau’ and descends into the Solitude Valley. The estate covers a patchwork of soils, from sandy soil known as ‘Safres’, which offer good drainage, to clay and pebble. The vineyard has an abundance of rounded quartzite stones, known as “Galet Roulés”, which derive from the Villafranchian period. These stones absorb heat during the day then radiate it at night, promoting full grape maturity.
The Tarraford vineyard has some of the oldest chardonnay in the Yarra Valley, and that is reflected in this deliciously intense and structured 2010 vintage. The palate is very textural and complex, (judicious use of lees) full of lemon curd, grapefruit and impressive minerality. Lovely toasty notes finish this wine, and it has certainly aged very well and will drink very well for the next few years.
The most restrained of the single-vineyard chardonnays from Giant Steps, this has an air of power to it. The 2012 Arthurs Creek Chardonnay is a wine of wonderful texture and intensity has is representative of its old vine vineyard. Marked by punchy, pineapple and citrus aromas, this is a medium-bodied Chardonnay with ample richness and texture. Custard and citrus flavours finish long and mouthwatering. This wine is a rare beast as it is no longer made. A delicious taste of history!
Wehlener Sonnenuhr is a precipitously steep and rocky vineyard that yields some of the most elegant and sophisticated white wines in the world. It has very light soil and the purest blue slate of any Mosel vineyard. This gives the wine a lively minerality and a delicate, crisp acidity that perfectly balances the bright flavours of white peach and lemon. It’s an aristocratic and charming wine that dances gracefully on the palate.
Spätlese is a richer, bolder style of Riesling made from healthy grapes harvested a week or more later than Kabinett. The longer hang time increases the sugar ripeness of the fruit, giving it higher potential alcohol (11–12 percent). It also increases the “aromatic ripeness,” which brings deeper, more developed white and yellow fruit flavours to the wine. Fermentation is stopped at a finished alcohol level similar to Kabinett. Since the potential alcohol of the unfermented juice is higher, Spätlese will typically have more residual sweetness than Kabinett.

The grapes to produce Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume Domaine Jean Goulley are carefully selected and fermented with natural yeasts in stainless steel vats to show the characteristics of this impressive terroir. Matured for 18 months sur lie in stainless steel barrels to achieve texture, roundness and complexity.

It makes no attempt to hide the power of its modern profile but the character of a traditional wine and other more evolved touches are never far away. A top-quality Reserva wine produced by a winery steeped in expertise creating classic Rioja wines.
Head winemaker Julio Saenz refers to it as “our little Burgundy” because of how closely it represents this unique location. In fact, the wine itself is a field blend, 95% Tempranillo with 5% other varieties including Mazuelo, Garnacha, and even Viura. The chalk soils and 80-year-old vines at Torre de Oña produce a fuller, riper style of Rioja, while the high altitude and Atlantic influence in Rioja Alavesa keeps the wine fresh and elegant. This style is complemented by the use of 20% French oak and shorter maturation, alongside La Rioja Alta’s ultra-traditional methods such as racking by hand.
