A layered blend showing lovely complexity, with aromas of ripe black fruits underpinned by hints of mocha chocolate, a touch of vanilla and wood spice. Rich and smooth, the black fruit and chocolatey notes envelop fine tannins with great length on the finish.

£2495Add to BasketGroot Constantia is the oldest wine estate in South Africa and has a remarkable history including having King Louis Philippe of France as there best customer! Today they make exceptional wines in a sub-region of the Western cape called Constantia which is near Cape Town.
The cool ripening conditions of 2018 resulted in layers of complexity and thus this 2018 Shiraz shows white pepper, coriander and liquorice on the nose, while time in the glass unveils the savoury side of the wine. The spicy flavours are supported by subtle use of oak on the palate and the tasting experience is completed by a fine tannin structure.
The vineyards that the grapes come from for this wine are tucked in the steep valley on the eastern side of Table Mountain. The climate is Mediterranean with cooling breezes from the Atlantic Ocean encouraging balance and complexity in the grapes, this combined with the cool southern slopes and deep mountain soils provide the ideal setting for the making of these top quality wines.
