    A prestigious property in the Margaux appellation, Château la Tour de Mons has been part of the Médoc landscape since the 13th century and since 2012 it has belonged to the portfolio of the Grands Crus Châteaux and benefits from the advice of the famous oenologist Éric Boissenot.

    Marquis de Mons is 2nd wine from this chateau and this offering comes from spectacularly generous and supple 2015 vintage.  Aromas of refined mulberry, cassis and fresh tobacco with a touch of roasted meat around the edges, alongside a hint well-handled oak. Medium-full bodied with lovely balance and impressive concentration, finishing with soft, satisfying broad-grained tannins.

    A real purity of fruit is showcased in this elegant Margaux, with an abundance of blackcurrant, black cherry and fruits of the forest, complemented by subtle hints of cedar, toast and cinnamon. Elegant with silky tannins, it is perfectly balanced through to a lingering finish.

    The vineyard is located around the town of Cantenac, neighbouring Château Palmer and Cantenac Brown. Bordeaux enjoys a maritime climate, influenced by the sea, with warm summers and cool winters. The soils are made up of Margaux’s renowned free-draining gravel which contributes to the rich style of wine imbued with finesse and elegance. The vines are trained according to a Double Guyot trellising system and are green harvested in order to concentrate the flavours in the remaining fruit. The grapes are carefully selected and harvested by hand when they have reached optimum maturity.

    This is one of the finest Charmes de Kirwan, the second wine of famous Margaux property Chateau Kirwan, ever produced.
    In the glass is has a rich deep red colour with violet highlights, typical of young wines from great vintages. An intense nose blends notes of cherry and blackberry with subtle hints of chocolate. It is ample and unctuous in the mouth, with a distinct fleshy character. Understated tannins prolong the tasting experience while lending softness to the wine. Thanks to its mature aromas and velvety texture, this wine is already ripe for tasting, although its concentration ensures that it will age well for many years to come. Drinking Window 2022 – 2037

    The vineyard is managed using sustainable agriculture; strictly plant-based fertilisers are applied in moderation. The Cantenac Brown team uses traditional soil maintenance techniques to enhance the structural, chemical and biological properties of the soil. The vines have an average age of 35 years and are pruned according to the double Guyot method. They are meticulously cared for throughout the year, with pruning; removal of buds, leaves and secondary shoots; thinning out and yield control, all taking place to ensure the highest possible quality.

    The 2015 is a wine of great substance and beautiful ripeness. The generous core of blackberry, blackcurrant, cherry and redcurrant fruit is enveloped in savoury roasted notes. It is opulent and rich, with fine-grained tannins which delicately coat the palate through to the endless finish. Classic Margaux.

    The vineyard is managed in an environmentally friendly manner and Cantenac Brown holds the Haute Valeur Environmentale certificate (HVE3) level 3 which is the highest level. Only plant-based fertilisers are applied using a moderate and balanced approach in tune with the needs of the vines. The double Guyot trained vines are meticulously cultivated throughout the year, with pruning, removal of buds, leaves and secondary shoots; thinning out and controlled yields. The Cantenac Brown team uses traditional soil maintenance techniques to enhance the structural, chemical and biological properties of the soil. The soil is predominantly gravelly soil, with clay and sand.
