    “The Velvet Rebel”

This Negroamaro is plush, smooth, and brimming with southern Italian charm. Aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, and a touch of spice lead into a palate that’s generous yet balanced – juicy dark fruit layered with hints of cocoa and wild herbs. The texture is silky, the tannins soft, and the finish long, savoury, and moreish.

For when: the night’s young, the food’s hearty, and good conversation is guaranteed.
Pairs with: pizza, slow-cooked ragu, or simply a table full of friends.
If this wine were a song, it’d be a soulful ballad with just the right amount of grit.

San Marzano is one of Puglia’s most respected cooperatives, founded in 1962 by just 19 growers and now representing over a thousand families of winegrowers. Nestled between the Ionian and Adriatic seas, their vineyards thrive under warm sun and cooling breezes, producing wines of ripeness, balance, and distinct regional character. Il Pumo takes its name from the ornamental ceramic bud that decorates balconies across Puglia, a symbol of tradition, prosperity, and new beginnings, perfectly capturing the spirit of this wine.

A generous blend of equal parts Negroamaro & Primitivo, the powerhouse grapes of Puglia.  This beauty is a fleshy wine with dark berried fruit layered with chocolate and hints of spice. Smooth with great purity of fruit through to a long sustained finish. Quite delicious.

The vineyard is located in Salento, Puglia, where the vines are grown at an altitude of approximately 100 metres above sea level. The temperatures are relatively high over the summer, which encourages the berries to ripen evenly. The soil is predominantly clay with some rocks, which help drainage. The vines are old, gnarly bush vines that are over 50 years old and are planted at a density of 4,500 vines per hectare. The Primitivo is grown in the highly reputed area of Manduria, locally regarded as the best in Puglia. The harvest takes place in September when the grapes are slightly overripe.
