  Another cracker from Chateau de Santenay!  This wine is pale gold in colour and very expressive on the nose with aromas of bright citrus fruit and white flowers. The palate has a lovely texture from the oak ageing, with concentrated flavours of white peach and vanilla balanced with racy acidity.

  The fruit for the Mercurey ‘Le Roc Blanc’ comes from Chateau de Santenay’s 72 hectares of vines planted across the Mercurey appellation. The soils are rich in clay, with limestone still very evident alongside some areas of marl. These characteristics give the white wines of Mercurey a strong structure and a beautiful texture

  The nose reveals hints of white flowers, citrus, and yellow fruits. The palate enjoys a crisp, fresh attack with a beautiful tension. This cuvée pairs perfectly with seafood.

  The grapes are exclusively from the single vineyard of ‘Saint Jacques’ in the Rully appellation, the most northern village in the Côte Chalonnaise. Saint Jacques was one of the first named plots or ‘lieu-dit’ in Rully, which has become renowned for its high quality. The grapes are grown in mainly clay and limestone soils, producing round and appealing wines.

  2018 Auxey-Duresses, Jean-Claude Boisset

  Pale yellow in colour with golden reflections. The seductive nose has aromas of green apple and white flowers that mingle with notes of toast and smoke. On the palate, the wine is supple with superb balanced and a bright, zesty acidity, which lifts the finish.

  Grégory is renowned for his ingenuity in sourcing the highest quality fruit from small parcels, or ‘lieu-dits’, across the region, producing the finest wine that the vintage can offer. Nestled between the two famed villages of Volnay and Meursault, Auxey-Duresses has only 150 hectares of vines. Today, it producers some of the Côte’s best value for money wines. The fruit for Auxey-Duresses comes from a 0.31-hectare plot located in the extension of the Meursault appellation, where the soils are mostly limestone and the vines face northeast. The balance between warm and cool influences results in a long, slow ripening period, allowing the grapes to retain their acidity and lending excellent balance to the finished wines.

  2017 Condrieu, Chaillées de l’Enfer, Georges Vernay

  “I liked the wines that came from the slopes, I found those from the plains very average”. These words of Georges Vernay sum up his contribution to Condrieu. Thanks to Georges, the abandoned, steep slopes here were given new life in the 1960s. In fact, this determined man had the genius intuition to cultivate vines on the “chaillées”, or terraces, aptly known as the “chaillées de l’Enfer” (terraces from hell)!

  On the nose, the 2017 reveals exquisite floral notes, like old rose and peony, as well as a fruity side. The palate shows finesse and elegance, with the floral character of the nose accompanied by hints of spice.
