  In the glass it has ripe dark raspberry, plum and red liquorice scents that fill the olfactory senses with subtle vanilla pod, earth and spice.  Juicy dark raspberry, dark plum, liquorice and dark chocolate flavours show terrific intensity across the mid weighted palate. Traces of vanilla and earth lie underneath. Silky smooth tannins with a long aftertaste that’s loaded with succulence.
  Drink over the next 3-4 years.

  Teusner The Dog Strangler Mataro is a rich and velvety red wine hailing from the Barossa Valley in South Australia. Crafted from the Mataro grape, this vintage has a deep maroon colour and intense aromas of dark fruit, black pepper, and liquorice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and complex, with flavours of raspberry jam, blackberry, and a hint of dark chocolate. The Dog Strangler Mataro has a smooth and elegant finish, with soft tannins and well-balanced acidity. It pairs well with hearty meat dishes like grilled lamb chops or slow-cooked beef stew. Enjoy this premium red wine now or cellar it for 5-10 years to further enhance its complex flavours

  From the winemaker: The wonderful world of wine gives us around 60 or more synonyms for one of our favourite varieties, Mataro, well-known ones such as Mourvedre and Monastrell, lesser-known ones such as Balzac and Exparte. We love the mutts at Teusner (dogs can sometimes outnumber humans!)… it’s somewhat ironic that we chose this particular name for Mataro…Estrangle Chien in France…The Dog Strangler in the Barossa.
