    2023 Chardonnay, Masut

    £3800

Masút Vineyard & Winery was founded by Ben and Jake Fetzer, third-generation members of the legendary Fetzer winemaking family. The brothers established the estate in Mendocino County’s rugged Redwood Valley, where they focus on small-lot, estate-grown wines that reflect the wild beauty and cool-climate finesse of the region. The Masút estate vineyard, planted on hillside slopes at elevations up to 1,200 feet, benefits from Pacific Ocean influences, long growing seasons, and sustainably farmed soils, making it an ideal location for producing vibrant, expressive wines.

The 2023 Masút Chardonnay is a beautifully balanced wine that showcases the varietal’s natural brightness and depth while maintaining restraint and elegance. Sourced from the estate’s cooler blocks, the fruit was gently pressed and fermented with native yeasts, then aged in a combination of French oak and stainless steel to preserve freshness while building texture.

In the glass, the wine opens with aromas of crisp green apple, Meyer lemon, and white peach, laced with hints of honeysuckle, crushed stone, and lightly toasted almond. The palate is lively and layered, offering a core of citrus and orchard fruit balanced by a subtle creaminess and a vibrant mineral finish. Oak influence is measured, adding complexity without overpowering the wine’s purity and energy.

The 2023 Masút Chardonnay is a refreshing, food-friendly white with depth and elegance, ideal with seafood, roast chicken, or creamy pasta dishes. A confident expression of cool-climate California Chardonnay, it captures both the precision of the site and the passion of the Fetzer brothers’ winemaking philosophy.

2023 Châteauneuf du Pape La Solitude Blanc, Domaine de la Solitude

    £4250

This 2023 vintage is an example of an exceptional white Châteauneuf.  In the glass it opens with lovely floral and citrus aromas followed by flavours of baked apple and apricot with lovely nutty, toasty tones on the palate.  Textured, rich and complex.

This historic cuvée of the Estate, produced since the 17th century, is a blend of different soils and varietals situated on the coolest terroirs. The Grenache Blanc grapes come from the “La Crau” plateau, while the Clairette, Roussanne, Bourboulenc, and Picpoul varietals are grown in the “Vallon de la Solitude”. The Roussanne and Grenache Blanc grapes are fermented and aged in barrels on fine lees while the other varietals mature in vats to retain all their freshness.

This domain has one of the best terroirs in Châteauneuf-du-Pape with its abundance of rounded quartzite stones from the Villafranchian period. These stones absorb heat during the day then radiate it at night, promoting full grape maturity.

2023 Sancerre Silex, J. de Villebois

    £4250

In the glass Striking, aromatic notes of flint, blackcurrant and lemon lead to a mineral-rich palate. Beautifully balanced with a crisp, refreshing finish.

The Sauvignon Blanc grapes for the Silex cuvée are grown in the famous ‘Silex’ soils of Sancerre, which are made up of clay-siliceous soils composed of flint (Silex), clay and siliceous conglomerates. The sought-after Silex soils make up just 20% of the Sancerre appellation and are considered as ‘early-ripening soil’ as the flinty stones capture the heat from the sun during the day and radiate it at night, which helps to accelerate the maturity of the grapes. This is beneficial is such a cool, continental climate, where the Sauvignon Blanc retains its hallmark acidity, as it offers balance to the wines. The grapes for this cuvée come from hillside plots, where the vines are over 35 years old.

2023 Grande Reserve Rosé, Château La Mascaronne

    £4695

The 2023 Grande Réserve Rosé from Château La Mascaronne is a refined expression of terroir-driven elegance and meticulous craftsmanship. Sourced from the estate’s finest parcels of Grenache and Mourvèdre, alongside the oldest plantings of Rolle, this cuvée showcases both the depth and finesse that Provence rosé can achieve.

Harvested by hand at dawn to preserve freshness, each varietal is pressed and vinified separately in small 500L ovoid vats, an artisanal approach that enhances texture and aromatic precision. After extended ageing on fine lees, the wine emerges with a luminous, naturally pale hue and a delicately layered bouquet of wild strawberry, white peach, rose petal, and citrus zest. On the palate, it is poised and structured, unfolding with notes of ripe orchard fruit, hints of spice, and a subtle mineral backbone that carries through to a long, savoury finish. This is a rosé of impressive complexity and ageability, designed to be as compelling at release as it is after several years in the cellar.

2023 Grunlack Riesling Spatlese, Schloss Johannisberg

    £4900

The legendary Schloss Johannisberg is steeped in history. The vineyards were planted on the orders of the Roman Emperor Charlemagne. Planted solely with Riesling grapes in 1720, Schloss Johannisberg was the world’s first Riesling Estate and plays a significant part in wine history. It was here in 1775 that the Spätlese quality was discovered using late picked grapes suffering from “noble rot”. Following this discovery, in 1787 the estate gave Auslese, Beerenauslese and Trockenbeerenauslese to the wine world.

This 2023 Grunlack (Green label) Riesling Spätlese opens in the glass with an exotic bouquet of orange peel, pineapple, and lime complemented by ripe, red apple and delicious mineral undertones. Initial sweetness is perfectly balanced by a juicy freshness on the palate and a delicately creamy finish.

The south-facing vineyard is steep, with a gradient of 45° and climbs from 114 to 181 metres above sea level. The Riesling vines are grown in quartz stone from the Taunus hillsides interspersed with red clay and topped with loam and rich loss, which retains water and the heat of the day. This unique vineyard sees the 50° parallel run directly through the vineyard and the forest on the top of the Taunus hillsides protects the vines from cold winds. The vines produce limited yields and the grapes are carefully harvested by hand. Spätlese is translated as “late harvest”: the grapes are harvested at least seven days after the normal harvest, so they are riper, have higher sugar content and produce wines of greater intensity.

    2023 Stonevik, Viña VIK

    £16500

A full-bodied blend imbued with tightly layered tannins giving a velvety texture and notes of blackberry, earthy notes, mushroom, graphite and herbal hints of sage. Delicious and long with chocolatey tones on the everlasting finish.

STONEVIK is a natural wine created in nature by nature. A blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère from vineyards where the best holistic, organic and biodynamic practices were used.

The grapes were fermented in toasted oak barrels with the Barroir method (with oak fallen from the property) for a period equivalent to a lunar cycle. The wine is then aged in handmade amphorae made by artisans using the same clay as VIK’s terroir. A total of 7 amphorae, 3 in honour of the universe and 4 in honour of the earth, aligned according to astronomical principles. The amphorae are semi-buried in the highest peak of VIK Park, over 1,000 meters above sea level, surrounded by centenary oak trees, in a sector VIK call “La Roblería”. It is there where STONEVIK lies under the wisdom of the forest and where, in each summer solstice, nature gives us this exceptional wine.
