  2022 Estate Reserve Chardonnay, Lismore

  Lismore Estate is based in Greyton within the Overberg region of the Western Cape of South Africa.  It’s here with the Sonderend mountains as a backdrop that winemaker & proprietor Samantha O’Keefe makes her fabulous wines.

  A stunning example of a restrained, cool-climate Chardonnay. Intense citrus aromas and classic soft fruits, jasmine and walnut are layered with honey and vanilla notes.  The palate is beautifully balanced with refreshing, crisp acidity and a distinct minerality. Concentrated and refined, with a crisp, clean citrus finish.

  Having pioneered a new extreme cool climate region in South Africa, Samantha chose to release an Estate Reserve range to illustrate what the vineyards are capable of. The wines are produced from very low yielding vines. The vineyard is planted at 300 metres above sea level, in the foothills of the Sonderend Mountain Range.

  2022 Earthborn ‘6 Barrels’ Chardonnay, Ataraxia

  The Ataraxia Chardonnay Earthborn Organic – this new organic variation of the highly endowed Chardonnay’s of Ataraxia is truly exceptional! Fermented in 20% new wood, it is taut and tangy, with delicious aromas of mandarin and lemongrass, subtle spices, an impressive structure, stunning depth and exceptional minerality. 

  This “Vin de Terroir” was made from Ataraxia’s first vintage of organic grapes grown on its own vineyards. He presents a journey of conversion to organic principles that began five years ago. Spontaneous and complete barrel fermentation without additives, followed by maturation in specially selected French oak barrels, sourced exclusively from Burgundian coopers, were part of a gentle and minimalist winemaking approach without interfering with the natural vinification processes.

  2018 Chardonnay ‘Deconstructed Lake District Bokkeveld Shale CY95’, Kershaw

  This outstanding Chardonnay from Richard Kershaw MW is sourced from a parcel in the western part of Elgin the CY95 in the wines name is in reference to a clone of the Chardonnay grape that is known for its excellent quality creating wines that are aromatic, fuller bodied and rich yet tightly structured, well–balanced with length of flavour, managing to show restraint and mouth-watering passivity with a great line through the palate and fruit veering towards white peach flesh and nectarine. The Bokkeveld Shale brings amplified perfume to the nose and persistence and elegance to the palate.

   Only 710 bottles were produced.

  2018 Chardonnay ‘Deconstructed Lake District Cartref CY96’, Kershaw

  This outstanding Chardonnay from Richard Kershaw MW is sourced from a parcel in the western part of Elgin, the CY96 in the wines name is in reference to a clone of the Chardonnay grape that is known for its excellent quality, creating wines that are nervous, aromatic, elegant and crisp with slightly lower alcohol and finely balanced, the fruit profile being subtle with hints of citrus/orange peel and peach blossom and with time, some nutty elements. The Cartref soils, a mixture of decomposed granite, pebbles and quartz, add delicacy and heighten the fruit intensity.

   Only 780 bottles were produced.
