  • Cuvée Royale Rose(Gift Box), Champagne Joseph PerrierChampagne & Sparkling Wine

Cuvée Royale Rose(Gift Box), Champagne Joseph Perrier

    £5495

Joseph Perrier Cuvée Royale Brut Rosé is a sophisticated champagne made from a blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Meunier grapes. It has a lovely salmon pink colour with a fine and persistent perlage. The nose is complex and intense, with aromas of red berries, strawberries, and raspberries, followed by hints of flowers and spices. On the palate, the wine is fresh and lively, with a perfect balance between fruitiness, acidity, and creamy texture. The finish is long and elegant, leaving a pleasant and refreshing sensation. This champagne is ideal as an aperitif or paired with seafood, sushi, or light desserts.

‘Aged on the lees for 3-to-5 years in cellars dug out of ancient Gallo-Roman chalk pits, this rosé Champagne is serious, and seriously delicious. Displaying a medium ‘vieux rose’ hue and narrow cordon, the wine exudes summer pudding fruits and fresh bread notes. On the palate, the wine shows finesse in its light body, zippy acidity and ‘crackling’ mousse texture. Nicely balanced with good length. Quite vinous, this wine is a lovely aperitif but will also work well with wild salmon or even light desserts.’ Patricia Stefanowicz MW

This champagne is distinguished by its light yellow colour with shiny silvery highlights, its persistent and very creamy foam and its very fine bubbles. This Premier Cru is presented in the Prestige bottle developed in 2006 by the House for its high-end wines with its fine neck limiting gas exchange and its warm brown colour preserving wine against the light.

2017 ‘The Trouble with Dreams’ Brut, Sugrue SouthDowns

    £5900

The Trouble with Dreams is a classic blend of barrel-fermented Chardonnay and Pinot Noir boasting great purity and elegance, with lemon and apple aromas leading to a palate of delicate stone fruit and refreshingly crisp acidity. This is long, complex and absolutely delicious.

A portion of the fruit for this vintage was sourced from the Storrington Priory Vineyard. The majority of grapes came from the exceptional Mount Harry Vineyard near Lewes, in East Sussex. Both of the vineyards are located in Sussex, sitting above the 50th parallel and are influenced by a cool coastal climate. The vineyards have east and southeasterly aspects respectively, encouraging the maximum exposure to the sun, assisting ripening in this capricious climate. The soils are dominated by South Downs chalk which provides superior drainage for the vines, as well as imparting great elegance and finesse to the wines.

  • MV ‘#Zodo’, SugrueChampagne & Sparkling Wine, English & Welsh Sparkling Wine, Sparkling

    MV ‘#Zodo’, Sugrue

    £5995

Made without additional dosage ‘#Zodo’ is a sublime expression of English sparkling wine. Aromas of Granny Smith apple and crushed stone lead to a beautifully balanced palate with vibrant acidity, fine weight and a twist of lemon on the finish.

This wine has been produced from Multiple Vintages, (MV). The fruit comes predominantly from the 2014 vintage, but also contains reserve wines from the 2009 and 2011 vintages.

80% of the grapes came from the exceptional Mount Harry Vineyard near Lewes, in East Sussex, which sits at 70 metres above sea-level. 20% of the fruit is sourced from the Storrington Priory Vineyard, located at 50 metres above sea-level. Both of the vineyards are located in Sussex, above the 50th parallel and are influenced by a cool coastal climate. Planted in 2006, the vineyards have east and south-easterly aspects encouraging the maximum exposure to the sun, assisting ripening in this capricious climate. • 2016 ‘Ex Machina 2016’ Sparkling Rosé, Sugrue South DownsChampagne & Sparkling Wine, English & Welsh Sparkling Wine, Sparkling

2016 ‘Ex Machina 2016’ Sparkling Rosé, Sugrue South Downs

    £5995

Sugrue South Downs is the personal project of celebrated English sparkling winemaker Dermot Sugrue.  His highly acclaimed and multi-award-winning sparkling wine ‘The Trouble with Dreams’ is stuff of legend and we think the best sparkling wine in the UK.

This his Sugrues very first rosé, a wine named “Rosé ex Machina” because of its serendipitous conception: 2016 was so fine in quality yet so meagre in quantity that Dermot had decided to make just one wine, putting all of his fruit into the prestige “Cuvée Dr Brendan O’Regan”. Then, just as the harvest was coming to an end and in Dermot’s own words, “the God’s intervened” and he was offered some outstanding fruit from the beautiful Jenkyn Place Vineyard in Hampshire.   From these grapes “Rosé ex Machina” was born.

Just 4,500 bottles and 200 magnums were produced.

  • 2013 Tillington Single Vineyard, Nyetimber Wine Republic Heros Champagne & Sparkling Wine, English & Welsh Sparkling Wine

    2013 Tillington Single Vineyard, Nyetimber

    £9500

Pale gold with fine bubbles, the nose is full of wild strawberries and raspberries, reminiscent of British summer fruits. On the palate, this delicate fruit is accompanied by complex flavours of toasted almonds, pastry and praline. The wine balances elegance and richness in perfect harmony, with refreshing acidity and a textured, decadent finish.

The Tillington vineyard is located in the middle of the South Downs National Park, on the narrow greensand strip formed during the Cretaceous Period. The geology is of prime importance here since it has determined the characteristics of the shallow soil above – excellent underlying drainage, low natural fertility – and influences the development of the vine roots. The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines grow on a south-facing slope, ranging between a 5% and 10% incline to capture the sunlight. Every operation from pruning to picking is carefully performed so that the grapes reveal the site’s uniqueness. Winemaker Cherie Spriggs describes this plot as “something really magical.”

  • Magnum of Prélude Grand Crus, Taittinger Wine Republic Heros Champagne & Sparkling Wine

Magnum of Prélude Grand Crus, Taittinger

    £16500

The wine’s brilliant, pale yellow color with silvery reflections indicates the high proportion of Chardonnay. This Champagne is subtle and fresh on the nose, with mineral aromas that quickly give way to notes of elderflowers and spicy cinnamon. In the mouth, lean mineral Chardonnay notes delicately balance the aromatic strength of Pinot Noir. The lively palate is dominated by fresh citrus and white peaches in syrup. Over time, this Champagne develops to become more full-bodied, round and silky with a rich, lingering finish that bursts with flavor.

Taittinger Prélude is produced exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards, with half the blend composed of Chardonnay primarily from Avize and Le Mesnil sur Oger in the Côte des Blancs, and half of Pinot Noir mainly from Mailly, Bouzy and Ambonnay in the Montagne de Reims. Following harvest, the grapes are pressed immediately in press houses located among the vineyards, yielding a first pressing which is the only pressing used in Prélude. At the winery, fermentation takes place under temperature-controlled conditions. Blending occurs after the primary fermentation, and thereafter the final cuvée undergoes the second fermentation in the bottle in Taittinger’s cool cellars, during which the wine acquires its complexity and fine, pinpoint bubbles. The wine is aged for five years on the lees, as opposed to the required minimum of one, to develop body and bouquet.
