Red WineIn the glass, this wine shows alluring aromas of white pear, elderflower and subtle hints of toasted vanilla and white flowers. The palate is fresh yet creamy with the ripe pear and citrus acidity following through. Well-integrated oak allows for a toasty and lingering finish

Lismore Estate is based in Greyton within the Overberg region of the Western Cape of South Africa. It’s here with the Sonderend mountains as a backdrop that winemaker & proprietor Samantha O’Keefe makes her fabulous wines. ‘ I had a farm in Africa….’ The opening line of Karen Blixen’s classic memoir Out Of Africa comes to mind when you hear Samantha’s amazing story. A native Californian, Berkeley educated, Sam realised her dream and bought a mountain in Africa.
In December 2019 Samantha’s farm, home, cellar and just-opened wine cellar was all lost in a bush-fire. Samantha has proven herself to be one of the winemaking stars of South Africa and gaining respect from all around the world. The day this tragedy took place Samantha was receiving calls from winemakers all around the Cape, giving her some of their top grapes and asking her to make the wine in their cellars in order for her to continue making wine and not miss a harvest. A remarkable woman making remarkable wines.
The 2020 Lismore Chardonnay is delicious in the glass. The nose is a complex, expressive bouquet of citrus and tropical fruits layered with brioche, honey and walnut. The palate is carried through by a distinct minerality and crisp acidity through to a lingering citrus finish.
White WineDelaire Graff is one of the leading wine estates in South Africa and is situated on the top of the Helshoogte Pass in the Stellenbosch Wine Appellation. It looks down on the Banghoek Valley, and the West and East facing sides of the majestic Simonsberg.
Morné Vrey, the Estate’s Award-Winning Winemaker, has produced a seriously good wine with this 2020 Delaire Graff Chardonnay Banghoek Reserve. In the glass it is buttery yellow with aromas of citrus, white fleshed peaches and smoked lime. The palate is rich and generous with flavours of sweet lemon, and stone fruit adding complexity. Lots of intensity and appetising qualities.
The grapes for this wine come from the high-altitude terraces located on the steep slopes of Botmaskop Mountain. These terraces are frequently cooled by Atlantic breezes thus the estate can count on impeccable grapes that carry the intensityof fruit that is the hallmark of Delaire Graff wines.
Red WineThe Eleanor Chardonnay is a serious style Chardonnay made to honour the matriarch of the historically most influential family to own the estate prior to the current day. Strong and resolute in character, yet always sophisticated and poised, the influence of Eleanor Finlayson`s spirit seems evident in this wine.
The bouquet is flush with fresh aromas of citrus and lanolin, finishing on an enticing floral note. The aroma evolves in the glass, developing hints of pastries. The citrus freshness carries through to an elegant and balanced palate. Good acidity is met by biscotti and stone fruit with and long finish.
White WineThe Ataraxia Chardonnay Earthborn Organic – this new organic variation of the highly endowed Chardonnay’s of Ataraxia is truly exceptional! Fermented in 20% new wood, it is taut and tangy, with delicious aromas of mandarin and lemongrass, subtle spices, an impressive structure, stunning depth and exceptional minerality.
This “Vin de Terroir” was made from Ataraxia’s first vintage of organic grapes grown on its own vineyards. He presents a journey of conversion to organic principles that began five years ago. Spontaneous and complete barrel fermentation without additives, followed by maturation in specially selected French oak barrels, sourced exclusively from Burgundian coopers, were part of a gentle and minimalist winemaking approach without interfering with the natural vinification processes.
This outstanding Chardonnay from Richard Kershaw MW is sourced from a parcel in the western part of Elgin the CY95 in the wines name is in reference to a clone of the Chardonnay grape that is known for its excellent quality creating wines that are aromatic, fuller bodied and rich yet tightly structured, well–balanced with length of flavour, managing to show restraint and mouth-watering passivity with a great line through the palate and fruit veering towards white peach flesh and nectarine. The Bokkeveld Shale brings amplified perfume to the nose and persistence and elegance to the palate.
Only 710 bottles were produced.
This outstanding Chardonnay from Richard Kershaw MW is sourced from a parcel in the western part of Elgin, the CY96 in the wines name is in reference to a clone of the Chardonnay grape that is known for its excellent quality, creating wines that are nervous, aromatic, elegant and crisp with slightly lower alcohol and finely balanced, the fruit profile being subtle with hints of citrus/orange peel and peach blossom and with time, some nutty elements. The Cartref soils, a mixture of decomposed granite, pebbles and quartz, add delicacy and heighten the fruit intensity.
