This stunning wine is produced from 35+ year old Chardonnay vines in the Chablis appellation using the Méthode Ancestrale meaning that the alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats and bottled before aging with the CO2 necessary for the long haul already in the bottle.
Aged on its lees for 36 months, it is then disgorged with no added sugar.
821 refers to the minimum total number of days necessary to produce this wine from the beginning of the growing season to the moment the bottle leaves the cellar.
Delightful toast and citrus notes with some exotic tinges lead into a serious wine with high mineral tension, full fruit in the middle and a very fine and persistent bead. This is an impressive wine that will surprise many.

2017 Viña Ardanza Reserva, La Rioja Alta
£3350Add to BasketLa Rioja Alta’s Viña Ardanza Reserva is one of the finest Reserva’s available and a benchmark for the region. Every vintage is outstanding and never fails to elicit a smile upon drinking. La Rioja Alta is the gold standard for traditional bodegas: a winery that ages their wines the old-fashioned way, meaning three years in barrel with two rackings a year, followed by three years in bottle.
Outstanding aromatic intensity on the nose, with spicy and balsamic liquorice, clove, nutmeg and black pepper notes, enveloping a subtle hint of ripe red fruit: brandied cherry and raspberry jam. The palate is well-balanced and fresh, with a broad range of flavours and soft, round tannins, leading to a spicy, balsam-like aftertaste on the finish.
A Viña Ardanza in its prime and with a long life ahead of it.
The 2016 vintage comprises 80% Tempranillo from Fuenmayor and Cenicero blended together with 20% Garnacha from the famous ‘La Pedriza’ vineyard in Tudelilla.

2023 Grande Reserve Rosé, Château La Mascaronne
£4695Add to BasketThe 2023 Grande Réserve Rosé from Château La Mascaronne is a refined expression of terroir-driven elegance and meticulous craftsmanship. Sourced from the estate’s finest parcels of Grenache and Mourvèdre, alongside the oldest plantings of Rolle, this cuvée showcases both the depth and finesse that Provence rosé can achieve.

After extended ageing on fine lees, the wine emerges with a luminous, naturally pale hue and a delicately layered bouquet of wild strawberry, white peach, rose petal, and citrus zest. On the palate, it is poised and structured, unfolding with notes of ripe orchard fruit, hints of spice, and a subtle mineral backbone that carries through to a long, savoury finish. 2021 Rosso di Montalcino ‘Ignaccio’, Il Marroneto
£4950Add to BasketIl Marroneto produce some of the purest and most perfumed expressions of Sangiovese made anywhere. Part of the secret lies in their prime location within Brunello’s traditional top class territory, situated at 450m above sea level with a cool northern exposure. Combined with the much lauded talents of gifted winemaker Alessandro Mori, and it’s clear to see why Il Marroneto are so highly coveted by Montalcino fans worldwide.
Alessandro Mori has always adopted a traditional approach, aiming for elegance and purity, without sacrificing depth or impact in his wines. Organic practices have been used in the vineyards since 1988, while natural fermentation occurs and there is neither fining nor filtration before bottling.
Both the Brunello and the Rosso start their life back at the winery as Brunellos, but during their maturation journey, Alessandro will make the decision to ‘declassify’ several bottis, resulting in a small release of Rosso di Montalcino. Prior to fermentation, the grapes spend around 2 days in steel with regular stirring followed by a slow fermentation and maceration for 3 weeks. The fruit is moved into large Slavonian and French Botti for 24 months then racked off and left to settle in steel for a brief period before bottling and release into the market.
