2018 Auxey-Duresses, Jean-Claude Boisset
£4250Add to BasketPale yellow in colour with golden reflections. The seductive nose has aromas of green apple and white flowers that mingle with notes of toast and smoke. On the palate, the wine is supple with superb balanced and a bright, zesty acidity, which lifts the finish.
Grégory is renowned for his ingenuity in sourcing the highest quality fruit from small parcels, or ‘lieu-dits’, across the region, producing the finest wine that the vintage can offer. Nestled between the two famed villages of Volnay and Meursault, Auxey-Duresses has only 150 hectares of vines. Today, it producers some of the Côte’s best value for money wines. The fruit for Auxey-Duresses comes from a 0.31-hectare plot located in the extension of the Meursault appellation, where the soils are mostly limestone and the vines face northeast. The balance between warm and cool influences results in a long, slow ripening period, allowing the grapes to retain their acidity and lending excellent balance to the finished wines.

Champagne & Sparkling Wine, Rose Wine
Franciacorta ’61 Rose’, Guido Berlucchi
£4250Add to BasketA soft, gently sparkling rosé with elegant notes of wild, ripe berries, complemented by subtle toasty nuances. Tangy and crisp, with a long refreshing finish. Made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The grapes come from the best vineyards of the Franciacorta DOCG, in Lombardy, where the topography follows an amphitheatre shape formed by ancient glacial activity. The Morainic soils were formed during the last Ice Age; gravelly, stony soils are well drained and rich in minerals. The vineyards are greatly influenced by the cold winds coming from the Alps; however the continental climate is mitigated by the effects of Lake d’Iseo.

2018 ‘Secret de Schistes’, Château de l’Ou
£4500Add to BasketAn aromatic bouquet of red and blue fruits, enhanced by graphite, crushed stone, pepper and herbal notes of the garrigue. Rich, with an elegant texture, polished tannins and superb length.
The Syrah vines are grown in the High Agly Valley, where the vineyard is situated at 325 metres. At this elevation the vines benefit from the coastal breezes sweeping up from the Mediterranean Sea, which help to temper the scorching summer heat. The mountainous foothills of the Pyrenees provide good diurnal temperature differences, with cooler evenings offering the vines gentle respite from the heat, resulting in balanced fruit with natural freshness. The soils are made up of a mosaic of schist soils, which date back to the Cretaceous period. The schistous marl produces shallow black soils, forcing vines to put down deep roots in search of water and nutrients. The vineyard is certified organic.

2018 Estate Grown Pinot Noir, Sleepy Hollow Vineyard, Talbott
£4800Add to BasketTalbott Vineyards is defined by its iconic Sleepy Hollow Vineyard, where the conditions are ideal for exceptional, cool-climate Pinot Noir. Located in the northern area of the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA in Monterey County, it has been designated one of California’s Grand Cru vineyards by Wine Enthusiast in 2016, for its ability to produce exceptional wines year after year. The vines were first planted in 1972 at an elevation of 168 metres and cover 228 hectares. Due to the proximity of the Pacific Ocean and the east-to-northeasterly exposure, cooling fog and frequent ocean breezes temper the warm sunshine, giving Sleepy Hollow one of the longest growing seasons in California and allowing each grape to develop concentrated flavours.
This Pinot Noir offers a distinct earthiness, minerality with hints of nutmeg and clove mingling with notes of ripe black cherry, raspberry and vanilla bean to deliver a rich, mouth-filling texture through to a complex finish.

2021 Pinot Noir, Scribe Winery
£4900Add to BasketScribe Winery produces vibrant, terroir-driven wines from Sonoma, California. The winery was founded in 2007 on a property that helped pioneer pre-prohibition Sonoma Valley wine-making and is managed by fourth-generation California farmers and brothers, Andrew and Adam Mariani.
A pure, elegant and classy Pinot Noir with bright red fruits layered with floral notes, rhubarb and a touch of cacao through to a silky palate with refined tannins and a long, smooth finish.
The Pinot Noir grapes come from three vineyards across the Carneros AVA. This wine is made up of a blend of equal parts of clones Dijon 777, known for being dark and rich and produces rich, velvety and complex wines; Dijon 115, which delivers pure Pinot Noir flavours and Pommard, which delivers pure, dark fruit. Two of the vineyards, Sandbach and El Novillero, are both within a five-mile radius of the Scribe Estate and the remainder are on similar Huichica soils. The third, the Reinke Vineyard, lies a little further east on Bressa-Dibble clay loam soils. All three vineyards benefit from the cooling influence from the winds of the San Pablo Bay, which creates a cooler mesoclimate resulting in slow, even ripening, which helps to build concentrated fruit flavours, while retaining natural, balancing acidity. The grapes are hand-harvested at night to preserve the fresh vibrancy in the fruit.

2021 Rosso di Montalcino ‘Ignaccio’, Il Marroneto
£4950Add to BasketIl Marroneto produce some of the purest and most perfumed expressions of Sangiovese made anywhere. Part of the secret lies in their prime location within Brunello’s traditional top class territory, situated at 450m above sea level with a cool northern exposure. Combined with the much lauded talents of gifted winemaker Alessandro Mori, and it’s clear to see why Il Marroneto are so highly coveted by Montalcino fans worldwide.
Alessandro Mori has always adopted a traditional approach, aiming for elegance and purity, without sacrificing depth or impact in his wines. Organic practices have been used in the vineyards since 1988, while natural fermentation occurs and there is neither fining nor filtration before bottling.
Both the Brunello and the Rosso start their life back at the winery as Brunellos, but during their maturation journey, Alessandro will make the decision to ‘declassify’ several bottis, resulting in a small release of Rosso di Montalcino. Prior to fermentation, the grapes spend around 2 days in steel with regular stirring followed by a slow fermentation and maceration for 3 weeks. The fruit is moved into large Slavonian and French Botti for 24 months then racked off and left to settle in steel for a brief period before bottling and release into the market.
