La Pettegola’s translation has a double meaning. The first representing the name of coastal sea birds, and the second meaning, the gossiper. Think of the sweet little old ladies in the square chatting about the goings-on of town.
The wine itself is straw yellow in colour, with intense citrus and yellow peach hints accompanied by floral and sage notes. The full structure is well balanced by the freshness leading to a persistent and fruity finish on the palate.

The breezes blow directly off the ocean in both a south-easterly and south-westerly direction, providing consistent coolness throughout the summer months, with temperatures seldom reaching above 30°C. The Chardonnay component comes from a selected block grown in gravel soils, which allows good drainage and produces grapes with a fresh, elegant profile. This cool microclimate creates a slow ripening period, allowing the grapes to build flavour complexity and produce naturally balanced wines.
The 2023 Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc from Auntsfield Estate is a vibrant and textured expression of Marlborough’s first and most historic vineyard. Established in 1892, Auntsfield carries the legacy of pioneering winemaking in the region, and today the Cowley family continues to craft wines that are deeply rooted in the estate’s unique terroir. Located in the Southern Valleys, the vineyard’s ancient Greywacke rock and Loess clay soils impart a distinctive minerality, texture, and intensity to the fruit, shaping wines with depth and character. Auntsfield’s approach to Sauvignon Blanc emphasises complexity and mouthfeel, producing wines that go beyond the typical Marlborough style.
Pale straw in the glass, the 2023 Sauvignon Blanc bursts with lifted, pure aromas of fresh passionfruit, ripe citrus, and lime, enhanced by layers of lemongrass, dried herbs, papaya, and a touch of jalapeño for added aromatic intrigue. On the palate, the wine is both powerful and elegant, with ripe flavours of passionfruit juice and white peach seamlessly interwoven with citrus elements of lime zest and mandarin pith. There is remarkable concentration and weight, carried by a taut structure and mineral backbone that creates a lively, balanced tension. The result is a Sauvignon Blanc with not only expressive aromatics and bright fruit, but also a refined, textural finish that lingers.
The 2023 Ferrum Albariño from Bodegas As Laxas is a vibrant expression of Galicia’s coastal terroir, crafted with meticulous attention to detail.
On the nose, the 2023 Ferrum Albariño reveals an enticing bouquet of citrus fruits, including lemon and pink grapefruit, complemented by notes of Asian pear, pineapple, and a hint of salted almond. Subtle aromas of smoked herbs and white fruit add complexity to the profile. The palate is tangy and textured, with a medium body and a supple, saline finish. Situated just 45 kilometres east of Melbourne, the Yarra Valley is a large and diverse cool-climate wine region. Its elevation spectacularly ranges from lows of 50m to heights of 1,250m, due to the influence of the Great Dividing Range. The region is characterised by significant rainfall during winter and spring, which helps to nourish the vines throughout the dry, but cool summers.

An elegant Sauvignon Blanc with aromas of floral spice, cardamom and white pepper. Richly textured with generous notes of citrus and ripe nectarine through to the characteristic, lengthy mineral edge on the finish.
The estate is positioned on the narrow Cape Peninsula, where the confluence of sea breezes from the cold Atlantic Ocean, less than one mile away, and the southeasterly breezes from False Bay, create ideal conditions for the slow ripening of grapes. The grapes for this wine are hand-selected from three sea-facing vineyard parcels in the mid-levels of the estate, where a combination of the fresh breezes and decomposed granite soils result in a wine with a distinct mineral edge. The breezes, along with good canopy management, help to keep the vines healthy and diseases at bay, reducing the need for treatments. When the winds are strong, they also control the vine’s vigour and encourage a second suckering. The topography of the Noordhoek amphitheatre is also influential. It was carved from the Silvermine mountain over time, and as a result the soils of the estate vineyards are rich with decomposed granite, limestone and kaolin, imbuing the wines with their signature mineral quality.
Elegant and expressive, the 2024 Lugana from Guerrieri Rizzardi captures the unique character of the Lake Garda terroir. Crafted primarily from Trebbiano di Lugana, grown on white clay-rich soils in the San Benedetto di Lugana area, this wine reflects both heritage and precision viticulture.
On the nose, it offers engaging and attractive aromatics—white blossom, ripe stone fruits, and hints of citrus zest. The palate is silky and textured, with concentrated fruit, a refined sapidity, and a long, persistent finish. Its freshness and elegance are beautifully framed by the richness imparted by the clay soils, making it both approachable and age-worthy.

Brick-red in colour, with delicious aromas of ripe red berries, tobacco and stewed prunes, enveloping a voluptuous palate with refined sweetness and wonderful balance. The wine was aged in old, used French oak barrels for five years- the length of time required for an ‘hors d’âge’ wine.
The Rivesaltes AOC is flanked by the Mediterranean Sea to the east and surrounded by mountain ranges with the Pyrenees to the west, and the Albères to the south. In geological terms, the appellation endured enormous upheavals in the tertiary and quaternary periods, which created a complex variety of soils, subsoils and a multitude of terroirs. The terroir ranges from the Quaternary Terraces with red pebbles resting on shallow soils, on a clay subsoil with low water reserves which is where the Grenache Noir vines are planted- the variety used to produce the Rivesaltes Tuilé cuvée.
A wine of heritage and distinction, Munus—Latin for “gift”—is crafted from a meticulous selection of grapes sourced from the finest old parcels of the Rizzardi family’s Bardolino estate. This cuvée, first created in 1982 as a tribute to Contessa Maria Cristina Loredan Rizzardi’s Venetian lineage, is the only red wine from the Bardolino vineyards that is aged in oak, showcasing both tradition and innovation.
The 2022 vintage blends old-vine Corvina with Merlot and Merlot Khorus, yielding a wine of striking depth and character. Aromas of ripe red and black cherries, wild berries, and plum are interwoven with hints of spice, forest floor, and delicate oak. On the palate, it is medium-bodied yet rich, with smooth tannins and a refined structure. The Merlot contributes plushness and colour, while the Corvina offers freshness and elegance. Ageing in oak adds complexity and a subtle, savoury finish.
