This is what Saint Clair regards as Marlborough’s best subregion for Sauvignon Blanc, producing wines with heightened expression. These vineyards sit on alluvial, silt soils. Each vineyard block was harvested when it reached maximum flavour maturity and physiological ripeness.

The Grüner Veltliner vines are grown in the Wachau, the most prestigious viticultural area in Austria. The vineyard is located on the steep terraces of the Spitzer Valley with proximity to the Danube. The temperature variation in the valley, with warmer days and cooler nights, has a significant role to play in the ripening of the berries. The vines are grown in Gneiss soils, made up of schist and granite with a high mineral content.

White WineHiruzta (pronounced “Ir-rosster”) is an estate winery in the northern Basque region of Spain. The grapes are grown in their 11-hectare single vineyard, located at the foothills of Jaizkibel mountain, just 500 metres away from the Cantabric Sea. The salty sea breeze influence is one of the main characteristics that can be appreciated in the Hiruzta Txakoli (pronounced “Chaccoli”). The aim of the winery is to restore the tradition of Txakoli production in Hondarribia after all the grape that Txakoli is made from is called Hondarrabi Zuri, named after the town the Hiruzta is based.
The wine has rich aromas of crisp apples, pear, grapefruit and tropical pineapple are enhanced by a subtle, natural effervescence. Balanced and fresh on the palate, it has the slight characteristic of a pearl wine with well-integrated crisp acidity, hints of citrus and tropical fruits and a long aromatic finish.

The grapes for this exceptional wine come from a 0.6-hectare vineyard located on the fertile slopes of the Olifantsberg Mountain Range where they endure large diurnal temperature differences and strong winds, at altitudes from 250 to 450 metres above sea level. During the winter the mountain peaks are snow-covered, keeping the vines dormant for longer. Strong, constant winds characterise this block; they have a cooling effect and encourage a slow, gradual ripening of the grapes, helping to maintain healthy vines and contribute freshness and elegance to the wines. The soil in the vineyard is made up of sandstone with clay-shale and quartz. The vineyard is farmed in a sustainable manner, with only ‘green’ products used to prevent disease, thus helping to maintain the biodiversity within the vineyards and soils.
The lark is found in many biomes in South Africa, each with distinct call and features depending on the biome. This wine is named after the Red Capped Lark which is found on the Olifantsberg farm. The lark resonates with this block of Chenin Blanc, as it too has its own expression and story to tell.

Simpsons Wine Estate is situated in the Elham Valley; an unspoilt seam in the North Downs of Kent where the contours of the land, the climate and the soil are excellent for viticulture. The intensely lime-rich chalk soil forms part of the same chalk ridge that stretches from southern England through Champagne and on to Burgundy. The grapes come from the Roman Road vineyard, named after the route the Romans first marched when invading England in AD 43. They are grown on south-facing slopes, ensuring heat accumulation in the day and cold air drainage at night. The vineyard is less than eight miles from the coast, providing a crucial maritime influence insulating the fruit against intense temperature variations.
